To date, Xiaomi has been one of the most economical brands on the market, at least for top-of-the-range smartphones, always available at very competitive prices even compared to other Chinese manufacturers. Nonetheless, Xiaomi has always proved capable of carrying devices with an excellent design and equally excellent build quality.
Well, these last two aspects could be the only ones to stay in the near future, as the prices of the next flagships seem destined to rise.
Get ready to say goodbye to Xiaomi's super cheap Flagship
The news comes from Xiaomi's management, specifically from Wang Teng, the product director, who advises everyone to buy the Xiaomi Mi 8 during the Chinese New Year offers because in the future there will be no more discounts. He then added that since the creation of the Redmi brand dedicated to bringing cheaper smartphones, the Xiaomi brand will instead continue to create increasingly advanced devices that therefore cannot cost so little, as is now the case with the Mi 8.
The boss of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, seems to have then confirmed everything by saying that "after a brainstorming session, we have much clearer ideas about the future of Xiaomi. Our products will continue to improve at a rapid pace ".
Although these words do not make us very happy, we must also admit that it is a fairly reasonable decision by Xiaomi. With the new Redmi brand that in fact will be able to indulge in the creation of even top-of-the-range devices at more than competitive prices, there is no reason why Xiaomi should continue to make compromises to keep prices low.
So we will have something similar to what happens with Huawei and Honor, the first dedicated to the production of more premium smartphones with superior hardware and Honor that instead is dedicated to creating devices that also have specifications from top of the range but with some shortcomings that help keep the prices low.
In conclusion, we will have Xiaomi and Redmi with different objectives, everyone can then decide if he wants "everything" and go with Xiaomi or if he prefers to save and choose Redmi, I would say that we can not complain. I am also perplexed about the redmi prices… note 7 already has prices in euros soooo much higher than expected on gearbest….
If I'm not mistaken the Redmi Note 7 officially went on sale today and is already sold out, so Gearbest does not even have them. We must wait for the waters to calm down, as almost always happens.
yes Pierpaolo, certainly. I'm afraid, however, that even when it lands in Italy, online retailers will take advantage of it by inflating prices, riding on the hype that has been created. "major" newspapers also talked about it when it was presented ... never seen this stuff for a product by xiaomi..we'll see.
who knows how much the Pro will sell for…I'm waiting for that, but I'm trembling a bit for the price…..
Unfortunately, if prices increase in Italy, it is not Xiaomi's fault. In China, on the Xiaomi official website, the Redmi Note 7 costs less than € 15 more than the Redmi Note 5 and the latter is on sale ..
