A theme that is particularly dear to all owners of smartphones and digital devices in general is that of privacy and security of their data. In fact, now mobile devices are real custodians of our life: photos, passwords, documents, credit cards etc .. For this Xiaomi has decided to invest more in the theme of security, starting from the addition of a very interesting feature on their MIUI 11, with the aim of guaranteeing users a high level of security and privacy.
The new functionality that will be integrated into MIUI 11 is called APP BEHAVIOR RECORDS, which will record the behavior of the applications installed on your device. In particular, monitoring is linked to requests from apps that try to start in the background, which require the chain start of other applications or which require particular authorizations and / or "sensitive" companies.
For example, it will be monitored if an application requires background audio recording, access to call history or calendar events, make a phone call, access to contacts, read text messages, access information about activities or device information, taking photos or recording videos, accessing or saving items to the clipboard, accessing location, reading phone number, accessing or saving files in the background.
BEHAVIOR RECORDS APP is currently in the testing phase and therefore not available on all smartphones equipped with MIUI 11 interface, but it is certainly an excellent tool for controlling and safeguarding one's privacy.
Privacy: Xiaomi develops new feature on MIUI 11 and substantial investments for the European GDPR
Another element related to the security issue, which also arises from the cyclone that hit Huawei after the ban in the United States, is the effective adaptation to the standards imposed by the various nations. In Europe, the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is in force for the safeguarding and protection of privacy, on which Xiaomi has declared that it wants to invest more in order to better comply with the required standar.
It is the President of the International Xiaomi and Chief Financial Officer, Shou Zi Chew, to communicate the decision of the Chinese company, during an interview in which the privacy issue was addressed in an important way. Xiaomi will therefore invest time, energy and finances in order to guarantee the protection of its customers' data.
When the regulation should also favor the proliferation of more advanced AI systems, Xiaomi would be ready to take this opportunity, but at the moment the GDPR does not seem to have an opening on the subject of artificial intelligence.
