Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 7 Gen4, the new chipset intended for the mid-range segment, which promises significant improvements over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Thanks to TSMC's 4nm production process, the new chip offers higher performance, advanced artificial intelligence management and improvements in gaming and mobile photography.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 retains the classic 1+3+4 core structure, but with significant updates in the configuration:
- A 720GHz Cortex-A2,8 core for high-performance operations
- Three Cortex-A720 cores up to 2,4GHz, designed to balance power and efficiency
- Four Cortex-A520 cores at 1,84GHz, dedicated to energy saving
Thanks to this new architecture, the chipset guarantees improved computing speed, optimizing performance in games, multitasking and advanced applications.
One of the most interesting elements of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is its enhancement of AI capabilityThe chip is compatible with next-generation AI assistants and supports on-device language model processing, offering advanced features without relying solely on the cloud.
It is also the first in the Snapdragon 7 series to support stable diffusion for AI image generation, opening up new possibilities for graphic creation directly on smartphones. The Hexagon NPU updated guarantees AI Acceleration fused, with compatibility for mixed INT4, INT8 and INT16 formats, as well as a Sensing Hub dedicated to always-on operationsn.
La new Adreno GPU offers faster rendering and support for advanced technologies such as OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.3 and HDR10+. The Snapdragon Elite Gaming Features allow for greater fluidity and responsiveness in games, making the 7 Gen 4 a solid choice for mobile gaming.
Qualcomm has significantly improved the photographic sector with a Triple 12-bit ISP, allowing you to capture images up to 200MP and record 4K HDR video at 60fps. Advanced features like AI autofocus, auto white balance, intelligent exposure, and hardware stabilization are now included in the Snapdragon 7 series for the first time.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is compatible with Up to 5GB LPDDR16X, UFS 3.1 storage, and WQHD+ displays with 144Hz refresh rate, offering a smooth and detailed experience.
In terms of connectivity, the chipset integrates the Snapdragon 5G Modem-RF, which supports download speed up to 4,2Gbps in sub-6GHz. The Wi-Fi 7 support, Bluetooth 6.0, LE Audio and Snapdragon Sound deliver high-definition audio with aptX Lossless, Adaptive and Voice.
Qualcomm also introduced the XPAN technology, which extends the coverage of wearable devices, even when you are away from your smartphone. Audio is managed by the DAC Aqstic, with Hi-Fi playback support and minimal distortion.
The chipset includes Triple Frequency GNSS, curb-level pedestrian tracking, and lane-precise vehicle guidance, improving navigation in urban environments. Plus, the USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port supports Quick Charge 5, for fast and efficient charging.
The first devices to be equipped with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 will be the HONOR 400 and Vivo S30, expected in the coming months.
