While Xiaomi Global distracted us with the presentations of the new ones Xiaomi Mi Note 10 e Redmi Note 8T, as well as the series of We TV 4, his Italian alter ego instead added, without too much fanfare, a new device in his arsenal of entry-level terminals.
We are clearly talking about the new Xiaomi Redmi 8, or the smartphone that is part of the cheaper Xiaomi series and second only to the Redmi 8A that we will probably see coming in the weeks to follow.
Official Redmi 8 in Italy: 5000mAh battery and 18W Fast Charging at 169,90 €
The Redmi 8 brings with it some good news compared to its predecessor redmi 7, especially in the field of photography, autonomy and recharging, even if the performances will not see great improvements. The new Redmi device in fact equips a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor with respect to Redmi 632's Snapdragon 7, while as far as the amount of memory is concerned we will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.
Turning to design, the Redmi 8 sports an 6,22 inch diagonal display, HD + resolution and what Redmi calls "Dot Notch", or the rounded top notch. The screen is then covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 5 as in the back also available in three colors: Sapphire Blue, Onyx Black and Ruby Red.
Also in the back we find then a fingerprint reader and two cameras. Among these we have the sensor that Xiaomi claims is at the levels of those present in the flagship (and in fact it was on the Pocophone F1), or the Sony IMX363 from 12MP with focal length f / 1.8. So we can expect high quality images even in one of the cheapest smartphone of the Chinese brand. While the secondary camera has a resolution of 2MP and is used to take photos with the bokeh effect (object in focus, blurred background).
As for the front camera instead, this one can take pictures from 8MP and adopts different software features like AI Beautify 4.0 and AI Portrait Mode to improve the final result (therefore also bokeh effect). The camera can also be used to access the smartphone thanks to face recognition.
Finally, as we said earlier, autonomy will also be one of the best ever seen on the market with a well-powered 5000mAh battery and support for fast charging to 18W (Quick Charge 3.0) through the modern USB Type-C port. Other specifications include the 3,5mm audio jack, support for FM radio and an infrared ray emitter.
The Redmi 8 is now on the official website of Xiaomi Italia for the price of 169,90 euro, but at the moment it is not possible to buy it.
