For a couple of weeks now there has been talk of the possible launch of a cheaper version of the Redmi K30 5G. This device would come with the name of Redmi K30i 5G, or so it will be in the Asian country.
Redmi K30i 5G coming soon, camera info discovered inside the MUI
The Redmi K30i 5G appeared a few days ago on the website of the Telecommunication Certification Center of the Chinese Ministry of Technology, with the model name M2001G7AC. Today the device was instead caught inside the MIUI camera app code from the XdaDevelopers website, further confirming its imminent arrival.
The discovery does not surprise us as Xiaomi itself had officially communicated the desire to release the smartphone equipped with the cheapest 5G technology on the market. So what better series than Redmi's K30 to cut prices while maintaining high quality standards?
Having said that, today's leak suggests that Redmi will have to make at least a compromise regarding the photographic sector. According to XDA's Kacskrz in fact, the K30i 5G would be equipped with a 48MP main camera. Now, although 48MP seem to be many (and they are), the original Redmi K30 5G presented in China in December 2019 instead equipped a 64MP sensor, or the Sony IMX686.

How low? Well according to the latest rumors from China there is talk of a selling price of 1799 Yuan, which at the current exchange rate equates to around 230 euros.
Also from today's leak we also manage to discover the code name used internally by Xiaomi, or "Picasso". This would be the same code name as the Redmi K30 5G launched a few months ago and therefore we expect to find the exact same design and main specifications, such as the 6,67-inch IPS display and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G to power the whole.
