A few hours ago we learned directly from the general manager of Redmi, Lu Weibing, that the current flagship of the brand, or the Redmi K30 Pro, it will soon be removed from the list, to make room for the next generation, the K40 series.
Redmi K40: New leak confirms perforated screen, AMOLED and with 120Hz refresh rate
Well, apparently the Redmi K40 is closer than we thought, with the famous Chinese leakster, this Digital Chat Station, which has just anticipated one of the most important features of the device, we refer in particular to the display. According to Digital Chat Station, in fact, the first smartphone of the K40 series will be equipped with an OLED type screen and with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
But it doesn't stop there, because the Chinese blogger also revealed that the display will have a hole with a diameter of 3.7mm for the front camera. Digital Chat Station has therefore confirmed that the new generation will see a return to the design we saw with the first Redmi K30 5G and K30 4G, that is a perforated display, instead of the truly full screen and pop-up camera adopted by the Redmi K30 Pro.
As mentioned earlier, there is still at least one highly requested upgrade. The smartphone will now be equipped with an AMOLED type display, therefore a step forward compared to the LCD ones of the K30 series. While the refresh rate will remain unchanged at 120Hz, so more than enough for those who want an ultra-smooth interface.
As for the other specifications, several rumors from China suggest that the smartphone may arrive with a new SoC from Qualcomm. In particular, it should be the next Qualcomm Snapdragon 775G, a mid-range chip that will surely surprise us with its performance especially in video games.
Finally, from the point of view of availability, the Redmi K40 could arrive next month, one year after the first Redmi K30.
