Redmi K40 appears in the first live photo, indistinguishable from Xiaomi Mi 11

We broke up yesterday with the official launch date (in China) of Redmi K40. The series of new smartphones of the homonymous brand will consist of two models: one standard and one Pro. We know everything about them in terms of specifications. The less powerful model will be equipped with one Snapdragon of new generation and unreleased, while the Pro will use the new Top-of-the-range Qualcomm SoC. Although the specifications are now known (at least the key ones), the design it remained a mystery… at least until today. The portal Tena in fact it revealed the front and back of the devices. Let's see them together.

UPDATE AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE - 11/02/2021

Redmi K40 and K40 Pro have no more secrets: the first real photos from the certifications show the design on all sides. How about?

Again, as for Xiaomi Mi 11, it seems that the brand has worked harder than usual to give us a design as different as before. A point in its favor given that the devices we see every day are now all the same. Clearly the first thing that makes these Redmi K40 different from an aesthetic point of view compared to the others it is the rear photographic module. Some time ago we had seen some photo leaks but we were not sure if it really was this device.

The portal Tena brings us two variations of Redmi K40, one lighter and one darker. We do not know if it is actually the two standard and Pro models: in fact the differences on the camera are minimal, almost non-existent, and due to the quality of the images we cannot recognize if they are actually different or not.

In any case these are smartphones. As we said the standard model should be equipped with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 while the Pro one Snapdragon 888. In both cases these are new generation processors: the first is an overclocked Snapdragon 865 while the second is the flagship SoC of 2021.

A little thing: unlike it xiaomi he pointed out, there is no release sensor on the side. This is a clue that we must not trust any sources.

11 / 02 / 2021 UPDATE

The first real images of Redmi K40 arrive from China. In fact, it seems that the first units, certainly intended for bloggers and reviewers, have arrived. Let's see how it will be.

Unlike what we expected, the device comes with a indistinguishable design (almost) from that of Xiaomi Mi 11. If it weren't for the company name on the bottom left, we would probably have confused it too. However the photographic form has some differences. First of all it is bigger as we find an additional sensor housed there: the configuration vaguely resembles that of vivo X50, but unlike the latter there is a large sensor lower down.

Compared to Xiaomi Mi 11 the position and shape of the LED flash also changes. On the top of the range Mi is single while here it is triple and elongated. This picture is real as it returns with the TENAA certification that we saw yesterday (more information at the beginning of the article)

The cover photo does not represent either of these two devices
