Redmi K50 and K50 Pro launched in China: two flagships with 2K AMOLED screen and up to Dimensity 9000

As scheduled, Xiaomi's sub brand, Redmi, has just announced the new K50 series. This includes the Redmi K50 and the K50 Pro; let's go and discover them together!

Redmi K50 and K50 Pro launched in China: two flagships with 2K AMOLED screen and up to Dimensity 9000

Let's start with the more premium Redmi K50 Pro that comes with the much anticipated MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, making it the brand's most powerful flagship ever launched.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 adopts TSMC's 4nm manufacturing process and consists of 1 Cortex-X2 super core, 3 Cortex-A710 big cores and 4 small Cortex-A510 small cores. While the GPU is an ARM Mali-G710. The chipset is accompanied by LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 high-speed flash memory. AnTuTu score is over 1 million points.

In addition to the powerful chip, the Redmi team has also added exclusive optimization technologies such as “atomic” memory and focus computing. The system preferentially calculates the most active processes perceived by the current user based on the scene, eliminates unimportant applications in the background and ensures smooth operation.

The smartphone also has a very premium cooling system that uses a new generation of ultra-thin VCs made of stainless steel, with a total area up to 3950 mm2, the VC area covers more than 72% of the motherboard, with 7 layers of graphite and copper foil, gel and other thermal conductivity materials, the Cold VC liquid itself forms a three-dimensional cooling system, which allows the K50 series devices to maintain a cool experience while releasing high performance. All of this allows for a stable 59fps frame on demanding games like Genshin Impact and after 1 hour of testing, the maximum temperature was 46 degrees (ambient temperature of 25 degrees).

Then we have the screen which is one of the biggest strengths of the Redmi K50 Pro. This is the first time that a Redmi smartphone is equipped with a 2K screen. This is specifically a 2 inch Samsung 6,67K AMOLED panel with a resolution of 3200 * 1440, 526PPI, a refresh rate of 120H and a peak brightness reaching 1200 nits. The screen has achieved DisplayMate A + certification, beating as many as 16 records, supports DC dimming technology, 16.000-level automatic brightness adjustment, ambient color temperature detection, Dolby Vision, AI HDR technology and more.

In addition, using Corning Gorilla Victus protective glass, compared with the fifth generation of Corning Gorilla Glass, the anti-drop performance is improved by 1,5 times, and the scratch resistance performance is improved by 2 times. In terms of the unlock method, the fingerprint under the screen is sadly absent. The Redmi K50 Pro still uses a side fingerprint sensor.

From the point of view of photography, the Redmi K50 Pro adopts a combination of three cameras, with a main camera of 108 megapixel, 8 megapixel ultra wide angle and a 2 megapixel macro lens, with the first of the three integrating OIS optical stabilization. The front camera adopts the 596 megapixel Sony IMX20 sensor.

As for autonomy, the Redmi K50 Pro is equipped with a large 5000 mAh battery and adopts a single cell design to make the body thinner and lighter. At the same time, it also has an in-house developed P1 fast charging chip, which is the same as the Xiaomi Mi 12 Pro and allows for ultra-fast charging of 120W, full charge in 19 minutes.

Other specs include support for 6MHz Wi-Fi160, Bluetooth low interference Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3, dual stereo speakers, X-axis linear motor, and NFC 3.0.

Now let's move on to the Redmi K50 which debuts the new MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip. A TSMC 5nm process chipset consisting of 4 large Cortex A78 cores with a 2,85 GHz CPU frequency and 4 little Cortex A55 cores. The frequency is 2,0 GHz and the score in AnTuTu surpasses that of the Snapdragon 888.

The smartphone adopts the same screen as the Pro version, but the other specifications change. The standard version adopts a rear-mounted 48-megapixel main camera (with OIS optical image stabilization), an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The front camera is a 20 megapixel sensor (Sony IMX596),

We also see changes in autonomy, with the Redmi K50 integrating a larger 5500mAh battery and supporting a 67W charge (full charge in 48 minutes).

The Redmi K50 has a starting price of 2399 yuan (340 euros) for the version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory.
