A new smartphone branded Xiaomi with model number 2201116SC has just been caught on the site of the 3C certification body in China.
Xiaomi 2201116SC certified on 3C: is it the Redmi K50?
Previously, a device that is supposed to be equipped with a 120W charger and model number 21121210C had always appeared on the certification site. It is speculated that that was the next flagship of the Redmi K50 series, or the Redmi K50 Pro, although it could be the future Redmi K50 Gaming Edition.
In any case, the smartphone with model number 2201116SC caught today could be another device from the Redmi K50 series. Furthermore, this model had already been caught on the IMEI website, but to date we still don't know under what name it will be launched on the market. What we learn from the 3C certification is that the device will support 5G connectivity and that it will ship with a charger that supports 67W fast charging.
Most likely in the following days, the smartphone could arrive on the TENAA certification site and it is already thought that the device could debut in the Redmi K50 series as the cheapest smartphone.
Recall that a couple of days ago, the president of Xiaomi Group China and general manager of the Redmi brand, Lu Weibing, revealed that the K50 series flagship will be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen1 which will be run at the lowest temperature in the sector thanks to a double liquid cooling system.
Other specs that appear in the brand's shared teaser include a battery capacity of 4700 mAh and support for ultra-fast charging of 120W to be able to fully recharge the smartphone in 17 minutes.
Furthermore, Redmi had announced that the K50 series will also be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, so there will be a choice between Snapdragon chip in the more expensive device and MediaTek chip in the cheaper one.
