Redmi Note 13: will it be the first mid-range with a fingerprint sensor under the screen?

According to the latest from China, Xiaomi's upcoming Redmi Note series will see major hardware upgrades. The well-known Chinese blogger Wisdom Pikachu has in fact just revealed on Weibo (the Chinese Twitter) that the next device of the Redmi Note series will adopt a fingerprint sensor under an OLED type screen instead of having a lateral fingerprint sensor.

Redmi Note 13: will it be the first mid-range with a fingerprint sensor under the screen?

As we know, Redmi's Note 11 already on sale in Italy already adopts a 6,43 ″ OLED display with a Full HD + resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, coupled to a 180Hz touch sampling rate. While the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G and Note 11 Pro adopt displays with a diagonal of 6,67 with a wide DCI-P3 color gamut and a screen brightness of up to 1200 nits.

As for the Redmi Note 12 series already launched in China, we have the Note 12 Pro and Note 12 Pro+ which are equipped with a 6,67-inch OLED-type screen with a resolution of 2400*1080, a high refresh rate of 120 Hz, 240Hz touch sampling rate and 1920Hz high frequency DC Dimming.

So from the point of view of the display, the Redmi Note 13 series should not bring improvements from the point of view of the already premium panel, but assist its technology with an underlying fingerprint sensor. As some of you know, this implementation is only possible with OLED displays.

We note that, at present, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition and Redmi Note 12 Pro have achieved an ultra-high frequency DC dimming of 1920Hz, much higher than the iPhone's 480Hz DC dimming frequency. This means that the upcoming Redmi Note series will also use screens with ultra-high frequency DC Dimming, which improves the eye protection feature and brings a better unlocking experience.

Finally, as regards the launch date, following Xiaomi's timing, the new devices should debut in the first half of this year.
