Redmi Note 9 Pro / Pro Max design and display
The device is characterized by what the brand calls Aura Balance Design: that is, a design taken from the other previous Redmi, but enhanced from the point of view of the user experience. The design is perfectly symmetrical in the back. These Redmi Note is the first to integrate such a large display and a photo in the center of the display without notch: speaking of measures, we are talking about a 6.67 ″ with FullHD resolution (2.340 × 1.080 pixels) . The term Max has been used to bring it closer, in terms of screen size, to the Max series screen is a 20: 9 (cinematic display) and besides him, also the back and camera are equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 (first in the world to have triple coverage).
In both models there are USB type-C, GPS, Hi-Res Audio, IR port and 3.5 mm audio jack hole.
In addition, the Redmi Note 9 Pro / Pro Max adds a new "Z axis" vibration system can simulate up to 10 different vibration effects thanks to its various engines housed throughout the terminal.
Redmi Note 9 Pro / Pro Max cameras
We have a rear quad camera with "square traffic light": the sensors are from 64 (main) + 8 (ultra wide-angle up to 119 °) + 5 (macro, 2 to 10 cm) + 2 (depth sensor) megapixels. Important to note that it is the first time that we see a 5 megapixel macro and not a 2 megapixel one. Maybe we expected more, but the performance is like a Pro, as the brand says. Below is an example of the capabilities of the four sensors. The peculiarity of this Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is the ability to capture photographs in RAW format (as well as l'Oppo Find X2 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 10). There is the Night Mode that we already know with previous models and an interesting feature, or the Pro Color: thanks to this feature it will be possible to have heavier colors, but without being too young. As for the front camera, we have the largest sensor ever used on the Redmi Note series: 32 megapixel. Despite this being large, it doesn't seem to disturb much on the top of the display.
Il Pro model differs only in main camera from 48 megapixel instead of 64 megapixels and the front of the 16 megapixel instead of 32 megapixels.
Processor, RAM and internal memory Redmi Note 9 Pro / Pro Max
As for the processor, we have a very powerful (for the band) Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G with 8 nm construction process. We therefore have better thermal efficiency and longer battery life. In terms of performance, looking at the AnTuTu scores, this processor is better than Oppo reno 3 pro (Helio P95) and Samsung A71 (Snapdragon 730).The configurations are 4/6 GB RAM 64/128 GB ROM for the Pro version and 6 GB RAM 62/128 GB ROM and 8 GB 128 GB ROM. RAM is LPDDR4X type and UFS 2.1 type storage
Battery Redmi Note 9 Pro / Pro Max
This aspect is what the brand has pushed a lot in advertising Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. We find a mammoth 5020 mAh, the largest ever installed on a Redmi device to date. But if you think this cell makes the device a super thick bar of soap, you are wrong: 8.8 mm, as well as the Redmi Note 8 Pro. So two steps forward. In terms of charging power we have the long awaited 33W, with adapter directly in the sales box. This is a surprise, given that Xiaomi and Redmi usually make us buy the chargers separately. In solo 30 minutes it will be possible to charge the device 50%.
Unlike the Pro Max, the Pro model can count on an 18W charging power (with adapter included).
Prices Redmi Note 9 Pro / Pro Max
The colors available, for both models, are Ocean Blue, Glacier White e Interstellar Black. As for prices, based on the configurations, we have:
- Redmi Note 9 Pro: 12.999 rupees (155 € at the current exchange rate) for the version 4 / 64 GB;
- Redmi Note 9 Pro: 15.999 rupees (190 € at the current exchange rate) for the version 6 / 128 GB;
- Redmi Note 9 Pro Max: 14.999 rupees (178 € at the current exchange rate) for the version 6 / 64 GB;
- Redmi Note 9 Pro Max: 16.999 rupees (202 € at the current exchange rate) for the version 6 / 128 GB;
- Redmi Note 9 Pro Max: 18.999 rupees (225 € at the current exchange rate) for the version 8 / 128 GB.
Of course the prices in euros they are not the official ones for Europe, but only converted to today's currency. They will be subject to variations. In any case, they seem exceptional prices.
Differences Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max
For the lazy ones we list below the differences between the two devices just presented:
- dimensions: the difference is imperceptible since in Pro we 165.75 x 76.68 x 8.8 mm for 209 g while in Pro Max 165.5 x 76.68 x 8.8 mm for 209 g. Nothing significant;
- RAM and internal storage: only cuts are available in the Pro 4 GB - 64 GB e 6 GB - 128 GB while in the Pro Max they are available 6 GB - 64 GB, 6 GB - 128 GB e 8 GB - 128 GB;
- battery: although the battery is 5020 mAh for all models the Pro can count on a power of 18W while the Pro Max on a power of 33W;
- rear camera: the quad cam is common to both but while the Pro has sensors from 48 + 8 + 5 + 2 megapixels, the Pro Max has sensors from 64 + 8 + 5 + 2 megapixels;
- front camera: always single, the Pro has a 16 megapixel camera, Pro Max on a 32 megapixel camera.
Hi undecided take the pro or wait for the pro max? Because in the photo the green color has the rear camera different then ugly? Unlike the gray and white? Why not do the blue color. Are they effects or the green is different? Thanks
Also disappointed by the max, they broke (all brands) with all these 6.3 / 6.6 phones, which are great for those who want a comfortable one-handed phone, small for those who want a spacious screen. Give me a 7.3 / 7.5 !!!! (With at least 720G, better 765, big battery, not narrow and long 16: 9 screen, quality stereo speaker).
Great hardware on the Note 9 Pro Max but I would have preferred it to be at least 6,9 inches, so as to take the place of Mi Max 4.
They were a bit crafty in reality: in the presentation they made a comparison with the Mi Max series to make it clear that it is close to it, but they showed the first of the 6.44 ″ series.
