The new generation of cheap smartphones of the Chinese brand can only start from the "smooth" model, or the Redmi Note 11, today the protagonist of our review. A smartphone that does not dare in hardware, nor in design, but which makes simplicity and compactness its strengths.
As seen for the Pro variant, the sales package appears rather anonymous, not so much on the front but due to the absence of specifications generally positioned on the back of the sales box. In any case, inside the package we find the following equipment:
- USB Type-C power and data transfer cable;
- Wall power supply with European socket with max output of 11V / 3.0A-33W;
- Pin for removing the SIM tray;
- Transparent silicone protective cover with Type-C input cover;
- Pre-applied display protection plastic film;
- Redmi Notes 11.
SAR VALUE: Head: 0,598 W / kg, Body: 0,996 W / kg (distance 5mm).
Redmi Note 11 arrives on the market with 3 different colors: graphite gray, twilight blue (the one we tested) and star blue, making itself appreciated right away due to its compact dimensions of 159,87 x 73,87 x 8,09 mm and a weight of 179 grams. Side frame and rear body are made of plastic but the glitter effect of the back cover gives a pleasant appearance to the device, also because here fingerprints and dirt in general are not retained at all. There is also the IP53 splash proof certification.
The square lines of the frame in combination with the size of the terminal help to improve the grip and therefore even one-handed use is facilitated by not weighing the hand down for prolonged use. The only element to characterize the rear is the presence of the photographic module in which 4 lenses and an LED flash are housed. poco protruding while on the right profile we find the volume rocker and the power button which incorporates a quick and reliable fingerprint sensor.
On the left profile, on the other hand, we note the presence of the SIM tray, capable of simultaneously hosting 2 SIMs in nano format with the possibility of 4G + connectivity on both slots and a micro SD card to expand the internal memory with support up to 1 TB. The reception of the terminal, despite the absence of 5G, is excellent and even the navigation speeds are more than fair to perform any action. Moving on to the upper frame, the company does not miss the 3,5 mm jack for wired earphones, IR transmitter, second microphone for noise reduction in calls and the first of the two independent speakers from the headset that allow the Redmi Note 11 to reproduce the audio in stereo mode even during calls.
In fact, we find the second speaker in the lower profile, where the main microphone and the Type-C input for charging the device with OTG support but no video output are also found. As mentioned above, the audio coming out of the Redmi Note 11 speakers is stereo, with excellent listening volume but the frequencies are unbalanced towards medium-high tones with low poco present and warm, but overall you can't complain.
The front is characterized by the presence of a 6,43 ″ Full HD + AMOLED display equipped with a central punch hole for the selfie camera and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The real gem, in consideration of the price, is the refresh rate at 90 Hz with a touch sampling rate of 180 Hz, as well as a peak brightness of 1000 nits and 409 ppi. Numbers that are not overly cheeky, but which allow the Redmi Note 11 to always be fluid and satisfying in the reproduction of multimedia content as well as in the gaming phase.
Unfortunately the standard color profile is slightly subdued, returning colors with cold / washed out sections, but it will be enough to act in the color settings through the MIUI 13 software and obtain the maximum yield for the panel. There is no support for HDR content but instead we have the Widevine L1 DRMs, which are also recognized by Amazon Prime VIdeo, which does not hurt, being able to view the streaming from all platforms in HD quality. The frames that surround the display are rather slim and this contributes to a noteworthy multimedia immersion. Finally, the brightness and proximity sensors work perfectly, leaving behind the bad name acquired with previous generations of Notes.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 11 processor, unit with production process at 680nm and maximum clock at 6 GHz which is accompanied by the Adreno 2,4 GPU and 610/4 GB of LPDDR6X and 4/64 RAM, moves the performance of the Redmi Note 128 GB of UFS storage 2.2. In our case we have the basic version, that is the 4/64 GB which was not particularly affected by minimum trade union specifications, although I must admit that if you have the possibility, I recommend you opt for the 6/128 GB version. The reason for this advice comes more than anything else from the fact that in switching from an open app to another, Redmi Note 11 is not snappy.
Overall, the smartphone does not give any particular problems and does not report problems such as overheating or loss of fluidity. Even gaming you bring it home with good satisfaction, without expecting maximum graphic details, but a few hours of play you can afford it also because in support of Note 11 we have a 5000 mAh battery with fast charging support at 33W, which means that with just 61 minutes we can get a full load of energy. Unfortunately the 90 Hz refresh rate does not (yet) offer the Dynamic Switch but personally I have always brought my stressful day home without giving too much weight to energy consumption, because Redmi Note 11 in this area is a champion thus allowing to arrive even two full days of use.
There is also a Bluetooth 5.0, Dual-type WiFi and single-channel GPS with Galileo satellite connection, but the icing on the cake is the presence of the NFC module allowing you to use the smartphone as a digital wallet. On the other hand, FM Radio is absent but at least we can count on MIUI 13 based on Android 11 and patch of December 2021, even if apart from some aesthetic improvements, the firmware does not differ much from what we are used to with MIUI 12, except for greater reliability and absence of bugs.
The real sore point of Redmi Note 11 is the result obtained with the photographic sector it is equipped with. Main camera with Samsung sensor from 50 MP, f / 1.8 which is accompanied by an ultrawide camera of 8 MP, f / 2.2 and FOV 118 ° and further two 2 MP, f / 2.4 lenses with macro and depth of field function. The selfie camera, which naturally also allows the device to be unlocked via Unlock Face, is a 13 MP, f / 2.4 unit, also provided by Samsung.
Numbers that do not make a miracle cry and that are partly just marketing, in fact the results obtained from the phone are not at all satisfying, indeed sometimes you find yourself with colors that are not real, HDR almost non-existent and above all photos in night mode to be thrown away. . The videos then, despite the hardware allows it, can only be shot at 1080p at 30fps both from the rear camera and from the selfie camera, with total absence of even digital stabilization, but above all sometimes the "crash" fire and no longer fails. in its purpose except by tapping on the screen.
Fortunately, on Redmi Note 11 you can install the GCam 8.4, the latest arrival in the world of the camera mod, obtaining much better shots than the stock camera, giving the device an edge in the price range of belonging. Here are some examples (on the left GCam, on the right stock camera):
Redmi Note 11 will be launched on the market at a truly unique price, that is only 179 € on Goboo with Xiaomi official guarantee, in its basic version, a price that could appeal to many, but above all to those who are looking for an inexpensive smartphone, with good performance in every area. Well, with the small change related to the installation of the GCam 8.4, your Redmi Note 11 will also become excellent in the photographic field and therefore it would be foolish to miss the opportunity to buy it at the super offer you find on Goboo.
For the rest, the device does not contradict past generations, equipping itself with excellent autonomy, superb construction and then the compactness and finally the presence of complete and functional sensors, make Redmi Note 11 an almost unique device. Really recommended.
Redmi Note 11 is a low-cost smartphone that knows its stuff. Net of a negligible cost, it knows how to assert itself in every area of use. The possibility of installing the GCam puts a giant patch on the poor photographic yield, making it almost "perfect" for those on a limited budget but do not want to give up noteworthy performance.
- POSSIBILITY TO INSTALL GCAM
- COMPLETE CONNECTIVITY
- POOR PHOTOGRAPHIC RETURN
- ONLY 4G +
