Although we already had them seen on the Chinese Jingdong store a few days ago, Xiaomi's sub-brand, Redmi, today confirmed the arrival of a new series of RedmiBook laptops for May 26.
RedmiBook 16: It will have a 16,1 ″ display, 100% sRGB and much more
The news comes from the official Xiaomi Mi Notebook account, on the Chinese social network Weibo. The brand shared several teasers especially regarding the display. In particular, we now know that there will be a version with a 16,1-inch diagonal display, which will most likely be called "RedmiBook 16". This display will have a screen / body ratio of over 90% thanks to the very thin 3,26mm edges both on the sides and above the display. The brand then confirmed that the screen will have really accurate colors, we are talking about a 100% sRGB color range.
In any case, the Chinese brand has made it known that the ultra thin edges allow the RedmiBook 16 to have the same general dimensions as a 15-inch laptop.
As for the rest of the hardware, we have confirmation of a 5th generation AMD Ryzen CPU. We should therefore find a basic version with Ryzen 4500 6U with 6 cores and 2.3 threads, frequency of 4.0-3GHz, secondary cache of 8MB, tertiary cache of 6MB and an integrated Vega 384 GPU card, 1500 stream processors, frequency of 15MHz and consumption of energy of XNUMXW.
While the most performing variant could equip a Ryzen 7 4700U. A CPU with 8 cores and 8 threads, clocked at 2,0-4,1 GHz, 2 MB level 4 cache, 3 MB level 8 cache, and an integrated Vega 7 GPU, with 448 stream processors, frequency 1600MHz and power consumption of 15W. The two chipsets would then be accompanied by 16GB of DDR4-2666 RAM and a 881GB Samsung PM512 SATA SSD, but there will be other variants of RAM and internal memory.
In addition, the brand says that there will be the possibility to change the way the processor is used from "office, gaming or other".
But why do they use a SATA SSD instead of an M.2 NVMe SSD ???
