Refresh Rate at 120Hz will be the next target of Xiaomi

If we want to summarize in one sentence what is at the center of the struggle between all the biggest smartphone manufacturers we could simply say: race to the most performing device. But what do you need to get it? Opinions are divided: who wants the best camera, who wants the latest generation processor, who quintals of RAM and who stratospheric quantities of memory. It is inevitable that this war will become increasingly bitter and Xiaomi does not want to be last, so much so that he is working on a device (or function) with refresh rate at 120Hz. Some time ago we saw how we could increase the refresh rate of some smartphones, although with some small ones collateral effect; but this time it seems that with this objective Xiaomi will allow us to do it without any problem.

Refresh Rate at 120Hz will be the next target of Xiaomi

Thanks to the team of XDA, and in particular to the ever present member who answers to the name of kackskrz, we came to know that Xiaomi is at work on the development of a smartphone that can hold up a refresh rate of well 120 Hz, a record figure achieved only by the Sharp Aquos R, Razer Phone e ROG Phone. What the team has found is a code for a display setting of the update frequency in the last beta realtive to the MIUI 11. The description of the setting states that higher refresh rates "[make] the image smoother" while lower refresh rates "[save] battery". Digging further into the code, they found that this setting is currently encoded to show two entries: 60Hz and 120Hz. So, Xiaomi's next flagship smartphone will support switching between 60Hz and 120Hz, even if at the moment there is no intermediate update frequency mode of 90Hz.

Later kackskrz found the way make this update frequency setting appear on your device, even if it does not have a display that supports such a load, unfortunately leading to a negative outcome in the success of the experiment. However, these screenshots show how the setting might look when Xiaomi makes this available  smartphone o this function for devices already on the market such as Black Shark 2 Pro. Yes, because there are devices that thanks to the advanced technology they can count on, are perfect candidates to receive a refresh rate at 120Hz. Obviously, if it were a smartphone, it would come by itself that it will be one dedicated to gaming and not one for "daily use", unless the brand decides to support this frequency of display enhancement even on all future tops of the range .
