
In the second quarter of 2024, the global smartphone market recorded a total of 290,3 million units shipped, according to the latest shipment forecast report from Om Day. This data represents a increase of 9,3% compared to the previous year, but a decrease of 3,2% compared to the previous quarter.
Xiaomi third in the latest report on global smartphone sales

Among the various smartphone brands, Xiaomi achieved significant growth, with a 27,4% increase in shipments year over year, reaching a global market share of 15% in the quarter. This result puts Xiaomi just one percentage point behind Apple, cementing its position as the undisputed number one domestic brand. Xiaomi's performance was particularly impressive, far outperforming its closest competitors.
Other brands that have seen significant growth include vivo, Transsion, Honor, realme and Huawei. Vivo shipped 26 million units, up 16,6% year-over-year and 13% month-over-month. Transsion shipped 25,5 million units, up 4,1% year-over-year, but down 7,3% month-over-month. Honor shipped 15,5 million units, an increase of 9,9% year-over-year and a decrease of 6,1% month-over-month. Realme shipped 12,3 million units, up 21,8% year-over-year and month-over-month.

Huawei, despite the challenges faced in recent years, recorded an impressive growth of 58,1% in smartphone sales year-on-year, with 11,7 million units shipped, placing it in tenth place globally with a market share of 4%. This achievement makes Huawei the fastest growing brand among the top ten smartphone manufacturers. Interestingly, the launch of the Huawei Mate 70 series, expected in October, could further strengthen Huawei's position in the market thanks to significant improvements in the performance of its internally developed chips.
Samsung shipped 53,7 million units, an increase of 0,7% year over year, but a decrease of 11,2% month over month. Apple shipped 45,6 million units, an increase of 5,6% year over year and a decrease of 10,1% month over month. OPPO shipped 25,2 million units, an increase of 1% year-over-year and a decrease of 0,8% month-over-month. Motorola shipped 13,5 million units, up 29,2% year-over-year and 3,8% month-over-month.
