This is my second time trying a smart ring and I have to admit that the RingConn Gen 2 has positively surprised me from many points of view. For many, the lack of a display, typical of smartwatches, could be a significant negative aspect, but the extreme lightness, the long battery life and above all the fact that it is free from many notifications are significant advantages. If you are therefore thinking of buying a smart ring, this review could perhaps help you understand whether or not it is worth buying this model.

It should be noted that if you do not know the correct size of your finger, you can purchase the measuring kit for a few cents directly on Amazon. Once you have identified the correct size, you will receive a well-finished sales package at home which contains the smart ring, a USB Type-C cable for charging, multilingual manuals and a charging case, which resembles a jewelry box, typical of luxury rings. The charging case integrates a battery that at full capacity offers up to 15 recharges of the ring, so you will forget about the cable for at least 150 days. The ring is available in different sizes and colors.
Design and comfort
RingConn Gen 2 is actually the thinnest smart ring in the world, with a thickness of 2 mm and a weight ranging from 2 to 3 grams depending on the size chosen while the height is about 6.8 mm. The ring offers a minimalist but innovative design, as on the outside it offers the classic circular shape of a standard ring, while on the inside the shapes tend to become "square" and this ensures a better fit and adherence to the finger, offering 24-hour comfort without being bulky or annoying.
The RingConn smart ring is IP68 certified even for immersion up to 100 meters, so no worries in the shower or swimming activities. Made of titanium alloy with PVD coating on the outside, offering excellent resistance in all conditions, inside the surface in contact with the skin uses a medical grade epoxy resin, so no problem if you are allergic. I used every day without any compromise, the smart ring that apart from some small signs on the color, did not present any particular scratches or breakages.
Easy to use and record-breaking battery life
Using RingConn Gen 2 is really very simple and immediate. The ring arrives with a decent charge, but I still decided to bring the battery to 100% to see if the battery life was really the one estimated, in my case 12 days. By the way, despite a tiny battery, the battery life is actually 12 real days which, using the charging case, can reach 150 days of monitoring. Values that are the envy of many wearables on the market. Naturally, the device is compatible with iOS and Android systems, ensuring perfect integration with most smartphones and tablets, but be careful because the app can only be used on one device, meaning that you cannot pair the ring with two devices at the same time.
To connect the ring to your smartphone, you need to install the RingConn Smart Ring app, available for both Android and iPhone. Once you launch the app, simply open the charging case and check that a flashing blue light appears inside the ring. At this point, simply search and follow the instructions for pairing. Connectivity occurs via a Bluetooth 5.0 module, which ensures connection stability and data exchange speed.
One-of-a-kind features
First of all, it is important to point out that, unlike some competitors, the RingConn Gen 2 does not require any subscription fee for data monitoring. This smart ring also boasts the distinction of being the world's first ultra-thin smart ring with sleep apnea monitoring, using special algorithms based on artificial intelligence. There are many data collected such as sleep apnea, including the apnea-hypopnea index, the oxygen desaturation index, SpO2 and more.
There are not many sports that can be monitored, after all this is not the nature of this device, but for example in monitoring a mountain bike ride, as expected, RingConn Gen 2 has proven to be impeccable! In addition to cycling we can monitor running and indoor running. Bad instead in counting steps, since the ring probably suffers from a high sensitivity and if compared to a smartwatch, the count detected by the ring at the end of the day has always returned an overestimated result of at least 2000/2500 steps.
Despite its very small size, the RingConn Gen 2 is equipped with many sensors to perform its function at its best. We have the heart rate sensor (which also helps measure stress and sleep, as well as HRV) and the sensor for measuring SpO2 but a sensor for measuring skin temperature is also integrated. The measurements enjoy considerable precision, even superior to many smartwatches and the recorded data is very large, allowing for an in-depth analysis of your health status. The sleep monitor is also very precise, with the possibility of detecting daytime naps, although you will have to add them when you synchronize the smart ring. RingConn Gen 2 is a smart ring but like many others on the market it does not integrate an NFC chip for contactless payments or any kind of vibration motor with which it could warn of the arrival of a notification or a particular detection of its sensors.
Application
All data collected by the ring will be synchronized with the accompanying application, perfectly translated into Italian and available for free for both iOS and Android. From the main screen we can view all the data collected during the day, which are summarized in the "Wellness Balance" section, a feature in which the score of your physical and mental state is evaluated based on sleep, activity, stress and vital parameters.
There is no shortage of surveys containing data on sleep, physical activity, stress, heart rate monitoring and even sleep apnea, with the possibility of automatic detection. Each metric collected is visible in the form of a graph for immediate consultation and comparison of variations on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis. We can then take advantage of artificial intelligence, even if the functionality is currently in beta version, for interpretation and recommendations on health data. Important updates will arrive soon that will make this feature decidedly interesting.
As reiterated, the accuracy of the sensors is really good, even better than many smartwatches except for the step counting that I told you about above. In addition, there are widgets available where you can view all your information without having to open the application.
Conclusions
I have never been a fan of gadgets like bracelets, necklaces or rings, but the RingConn Gen 2 turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. The thing that won me over is its lightness: I wear it and I almost don't feel it, yet it is able to monitor all my activities with impressive precision, providing me with accurate and detailed physiological data. It is certainly not suitable for those who shy away from notifications since there is no display or for those who are pure athletes, since there is also no GPS here in addition to a few sports to monitor, but this does not take away the fact that if we want to monitor health parameters for example during a soccer match, it is undoubtedly more comfortable and safe to wear a smart ring than a smartwatch.
