Those who work a lot with the PC and are often on the go tend to carry and store documents and project files, reports, etc. on a mobile device such as a USB stick, so that they can resume work from where they left off on any other PC or notebook. A USB stick is certainly a light, capacious and fast ally to which you can entrust the most important documents without taking up space, but this extreme portability could backfire because we could lose it or worse, it could be stolen easily, exposing the content to potential risks for security and privacy.
But is there a free, easy-to-use way to prevent unauthorized access to the pen drive? The answer is YES, otherwise we would not be writing this guide. Specifically, an effective method to the issue is provided by the Rohos Mini Drive software, which allows you to create an encrypted partition on the USB stick, making it accessible only with a password. The files that we are going to protect will not be visible inside the small hard disk unless the correct access key is entered.

The software uses advanced encryption algorithms, such as 256-bit AES, minimizing the risk of unauthorized access or worse, information theft. Rohos Mini Drive does not require administrator privileges to operate on other PCs and essentially the program creates an encrypted partition on the USB stick you are using, effectively creating a sort of digital safe. If the stick is lost or stolen, no one will be able to access the documents contained in it unless they enter the correct password. If inserted into a PC other than ours, the encrypted files will remain hidden until the protected partition is unlocked, so whoever finds the key will not know what is contained within it. Naturally, the software allows you to decide the size of the encrypted partition to be used for data protection.
First we need to get the tool, downloading it from the site. We will find in the download folder the file rohos_mini.exe that we will start for the installation, selecting the Italian language and then clicking on the Next button twice.

The main interface will allow us to choose the option ENCRYPT USB DISK, choosing the right unit inserted in the PC. To the right of the IMAGE FILE PARTITION text we can select the CHANGE option to decide the size of the disk, expressed in Megabytes, to be used for encryption. We will confirm the operation with the OK button. Always from the main Rohos interface, we can specify the password to access the disk. We just have to check the CREATE A CONNECTION... item and then CREATE DISK. To access the partition, simply insert the USB stick and start the RohosMini.exe file contained within it, type the password and you will be ready and operational.

And did you know this software? Well, now you can secure your documents on a USB stick and have no more fears.
