S7 Stretch Ultra by Tineco, the unbeatable 180° floor cleaner!

When we talk about manual floor cleaners, that is to say 2-in-1 vacuum cleaners and floor cleaners, there is a reference brand, Tineco. Many brands produce high-end devices, but undoubtedly the Germans are the undisputed point of reference. At the end of October I tested the Stretch One S6 and I must say that I was very satisfied with its performances, even with some small "shortcomings". Today I'm going to talk to you about its evolution, that is, the S7 Stretch Ultra and let's see if these little defects of theS6 have been improved.

PACKAGE Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Ultra

The Tineco packages are aesthetically a bit ugly but very solid and that is what interests us so as not to risk the product suffering any shocks during transport. This time we even have a really super equipment, in fact we find:

  • Floor cleaner body already assembled
  • Handle
  • Charging base
  • 2 x Replacement HEPA Filter (plus the one already installed)
  • 2 x Replacement Wash Roller
  • 2 x Tineco Detergent
  • Instruction booklet in Italian
  • Brush for any obstructions

ASSEMBLY – DISASSEMBLY Floor One Stretch S6

The Stretch S7 ultra arrives already assembled, you just have to insert the handle and the operation is really very simple. You will find the insert right above the Display and the only precaution is to insert it in the right direction, but do not worry.. it will not fit in the other way! The handle must be placed in front! In case you want to remove it, just use a screwdriver and press the spring that is located behind the floor cleaner.
The parts that you will have to remove and replace regularly are essentially 3: clean water tank, dirty water tank and, if you want to dry it in the sun, the roller. They can all be disassembled and reassembled in a few seconds, and I assure you this is a great convenience. Here is the demo video.

As I said above, you can decide to remove the roller or leave it in place since the automatic drying lasts a very few minutes (about 5). A huge difference compared to the standard 60 minutes that most floor cleaners require. I always prefer to remove it and let it dry at room temperature, perhaps outside (balcony, window) obviously not in winter. So it is essential that the release mechanism is good and the operation is quick.

You will find the tanks in front (dirty water) and above the cleaning roller (clean water). The position of the latter is necessary to allow the inclination up to 180°, which we will talk about later, without letting the water spill out of the tank itself. The clean water tank does not necessarily have to be removed to fill it, you can use a funnel or a simple water bottle by first removing the cap. In any case, if you want to remove it to be more comfortable in the filling operation, you will simply have to unhook it using the release lever that you will find above. As for the dirty water tank, you will have the release lever right in front and an additional convenient lever that will allow you to perform the operation with one hand.

The dirty water tank must be emptied and cleaned at the end of each washing session to avoid the proliferation of bacteria and bad smells. You must also remove the hepa filter and wash it under running water. Inside you will find liquids and solids separated, this is to avoid throwing solid objects into the toilet that should not be disposed of in this way. At the end of emptying, rinse well, let the filter dry and finally you can reassemble everything. The photos posted in this chapter are of the Stretch S6 because the mechanisms are identical to those of the S7 Stretch Ultra.

CONTROL KEYS

The floor cleaner has 4 control buttons located on the handle: front, top and back.
At the front we find the button ON / OFF and the button for change the usage mode.
Above the button to start self-cleaning and drying of the roller
Behind the Wi-Fi reset button (hold down for 8 seconds), change the language (double tap) and increase/decrease/disable the voice feedback volume (single tap).

TECHNICAL FEATURES Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Ultra

As always, the technical data sheet of the Tineco floor cleaners is the flagship of the product, even if some information, as usual, is not provided (such as the suction pressure). Here it is in detail:

As for the materials we are at the TOP, as soon as you pick it up you realize the premium quality of the product. Aluminum alloy and polycarbonate of the highest level create the body of the machine that is really very solid. From the handle, passing through the motor group, to finish with the tanks we do not find a "weak link" from a construction point of view. The hooks are perfect, the parts really easy to disassemble and assemble. We also find on this S7 stretch ultra a slightly high charging time, we are always around 4/5 hours based on the % of battery to recharge. This is one of those small defects that I told you about on the S6 and that unfortunately has not been improved on the S7.

On the other hand, the autonomy is very good, going from 35 to 50 minutes approximately in automatic mode (we will go into the question of the usage modes later). This autonomy is really remarkable if we also consider the fact that the wheels are power assisted, this means that with a little push forward or backward, it will move practically by itself and this obviously affects the battery consumption a little. Obviously, all this is balanced by the fact that with this convenience we will finish washing the floor sooner.

Improvement regarding the clean water tank which goes from 0.8 to one liter, the dirty water tank remains unchanged at 0.72L. From personal experience I can assure you that the capacity of 1L e 0,72L they are enough to clean an entire apartment of 80 square meters, but don't worry if you have to clean larger surfaces. The water loading and unloading operation is really fast and will not take more than 2/3 minutes.

The electricity consumption for drying is quite high, up to 620W, but the incredible thing about this Tineco is that in about 5 minutes the roller is dry. This is a truly top-notch performance considering that other devices take at least an hour. I remind you that while the final cleaning of the roller is practically mandatory (you can skip it but I don't recommend it) drying is optional. I never do it in the hot months, I remove the roller and put it in the sun so that it dries by itself. You can also place it near a heat source, but be careful not to put it too close with the risk of ruining it.

180° CLEANING

The most important feature of our S7 Stretch Ultra It is undoubtedly the possibility of reclining it up to 180° and therefore cleaning under furniture, sofas, beds, etc. This feature is the prerogative of very few floor cleaners and I must tell you that it is really very useful for keeping the house cleaner better. In fact, under these pieces of furniture often nest piles of dust, mites and so on. The minimum height you must have to allow the floor cleaner to reach under the furniture is 13cm, which is the total thickness of the floor cleaner. You will then simply need to tilt the handle until it reaches the floor and pass our Tineco which will vacuum and clean everywhere.

Compared to the S6, the 180° washing system has been improved, with more power even when fully tilted and better separation of waste water to ensure perfect washing of the roller always with clean water.

METHOD OF USE

The modes of use, to be selected based on the type of dirt to be removed, are three pre-installed and an additional one that can be installed via the application (which I will tell you about later). The selected mode will appear on the Display and you can change it by pressing the appropriate button on the handle or via the application.

  • Self Mode: In this mode, the Tineco will detect the type and amount of dirt on the floor and will adjust the suction power and the water atomization volume (how much water will be released) accordingly. My advice is to always use this!
  • Max Mode: Do you have a floor in very bad conditions? This is the mode to use, the suction power will be maximum and the release of water ditto. Through the application you can modify the suction power, decrease it, but not modify the quantity of water released.
  • Suction Mode: Have you made a classic mess? Have you spilled water/wine/beer or something else on the floor? This mode is recommended in these circumstances because all the liquids will be sucked up without obviously nebulising them.
  • DIY Mode: The “do it yourself” mode is not installed by default and you will not find it if you do not first install it via the application (I will explain how to do it later). Once installed, it will allow you to create your own favorite mode with suction power and water release variable from 0 to 100%.

DISPLAY Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Ultra

Tineco always ranks at the top when it comes to LED Displays for its products and here it is no exception. The form factor is circular, very bright and contrasted, rating 10. Here we will find the fundamental information for operation through icons or writings:

  • Mode: AUTO, MAX, CUSTOM, SUCTION
  • Wi-Fi indicator (connected – searching)
  • Dirt detected monitoring (outer circle from blue to red based on dirt detected)
  • Dirty water tank full (or blocked)
  • Empty clean water tank
  • Tangled brush roller
  • Roller drying
  • Self-cleaning

APPLICATIONS

Few floor cleaners have the ability to be connected to an application and I think this is really important because it allows us to update the firmware of the device. Of course we are not talking about a smartphone that requires regular updates, but having the ability to fix some software problems directly with a home update is certainly an important plus. The application in question is "Tineco Life" that you will find in the store of your phone (android and IOS). Let's see step by step how to configure it: connect the floor cleaner to the charging dock, install and launch the application. The S7 Ultra will be detected automatically, enter your account, give the permissions to the application, enter the credentials of your wi-fi, set the language and download the animation packages.

At this point the application is configured and in the home we will find some links at the bottom and others at the top. At the bottom we find 3 TABS:

  • My Floor One from which we can select the usage mode we want to use and, through the 4 little squares at the top right, we will access the mode settings. Here we can add the DIY by clicking on it and then selecting add. In the modes screen, by clicking on each one, we will access the settings screen of the single usage mode and possibly modify its settings.

By clicking on the floor cleaner icon, always at the top right, we will enter the menu that will allow us to select washing with or without detergent and set the volume of the vocal feedback. The areas selected in blue indicate where to intervene for the specific operation.

The other 2 tabs are:

  • Cleaning log where we will find the history of our washing sessions
  • Settings From here we can check the name associated with the floor cleaner, product manual, if the firmware is updated, voice package installed and download animations

SELF-CLEANING - ROLLER DRYING

Compared to the last Tineco models we tested (S7 switch and S6 Stretch), we do not find in the package the cover to apply over the roller to optimize the jet of hot air, evidently it was not considered a fundamental accessory.
Let's get to that being a fundamental operation, namely the automatic washing of the roller with subsequent drying. To do it, you simply have to place the S7 Ultra on the base and press the self-cleaning button (the one above the handle with the water drop symbol) at the end of each work session.
At this point the cleaning will begin, the roller will be sprayed with water heated by air at 85°, rotated back and forth removing all remaining dirt residues. At the end of this first phase, drying will begin with hot air at 85° which will last very little, just over 5 minutes. At the end you will only have to worry about emptying the dirty water tank where all the dirt will end up. The only flaw of this procedure is the noise of the drying, but given the ultra-fast timing it is an absolutely acceptable inconvenience. We remind you that other similar products have drying procedures even longer than 60 minutes with obvious greater expenditure of electricity.

HOW DOES Floor One S7 Stretch Ultra CLEAN?

The cleanliness you will get with the S7 Stretch Ultra is, as usual, excellent. For those less prepared in the field, with this type of device you can vacuum the dust and wash the floor in a single pass. The amount of water released, in automatic mode, is perfect for cleaning and at the same time drying quickly. In a couple of minutes the wet area will dry. Excellent suction power that we have even with the floor cleaner completely tilted at 180 ° and this is perhaps the most important improvement that we have with this model. I remind you that the maximum thickness, completely tilted, is 13cm so you can clean under furniture that is 13cm tall. The clean water tank placed above the roller, however, creates two small problems: even on this S7 ultra we will not have the very comfortable LED light which illuminates the floor making us see even the smallest particles of dust (I really hoped it had been integrated) and the minimum height we need to have to allow the roller to pass the floor cleaner is slightly higher than usual, approximately 8cm against i 6cm of my previous model. In my case these 2cm do not allow me, for example, to clean flush with the furniture in the room.

Proprietary technology is good MHCBS which allows the roller to always be sprayed with clean water and consequently use only that, and not the already dirty water, to clean the floor. Dirty water and dirt in general will immediately end up in the dirty water tank.

Very good cleaning from both edges, there will be about half a cm of unwashed floor near the skirting board

S7 Stretch Ultra

The sensor that detects dirt and then adjusts the suction power and water release in automatic mode has certainly improved a lot. I noticed from the first wash that in apparently not very dirty areas the suction power increased (you will see it from the circular LED on the display that indicates how much dirt is detected), areas that with the use of other models were always washed with the same power as no dirt was detected. So very good from this point of view because we will always get a very clean floor.

S7 Stretch Ultra

Perfect product also for removing pet hair as well as classic dirt and hair which will never get tangled on the brush thanks to the dual block anti-tangle technology.

S7 Stretch Ultra

Another noteworthy specification is the roller joint which I consider 10, this is also a Tineco prerogative. This specification is important for the maneuverability of the floor cleaner that will allow us to go and clean in all the areas of the house that are a bit difficult due to the presence of furniture and corners. In fact, we will easily be able to reach every point by tilting it even laterally. A functional joint allows us to have perfect cleaning in every corner of the house!

Finally I want to mention another improvement compared to the last floor cleaners I tried, namely the wheels. power assisted. On other models, including Tineco, they were slightly “invasive” that is, they pulled too much, making it difficult to guide the product at times. In this S7 Ultra, they are, in my opinion, perfect! They pull with the right power to not make us struggle but at the same time give us complete control over the way we clean.

FINAL THOUGHTS Floor One S7 Stretch Ultra

After having seen how it works, let's get to the final considerations. Having tried the Stretch One S6 just a few months ago it seems logical to make a comparison and understand if those small defects that I had found on the S6 have been filed down. Unfortunately I have to say no because the shortcomings that I had found are also on the S7. In fact, the front LED light is still missing and charging remains very slow. Attention, I want to point out that the lack of the LED light could be impossible to fix, in fact with these products that recline up to 180 °, and the consequent movement of the clean water tank above the roller, it might not be possible to install the light. Perhaps in the future alternatives will be studied that can allow you to have it as it is really convenient to see all the dirt that is on the floor.

So what has improved compared to the S6? Well, we can certainly find something... like the battery life that goes from 35 to 50 minutes (and that's not bad), the better cleaning when reclined at Inline and the servo-assisted wheels which are now less invasive and allow us to have better maneuverability. The management via application remains excellent, the cleaning of the roller with hot water which goes from 70° to Inline and the roller dries very quickly (only 5 minutes). I also remember that the package is richer with 2 replacement hepa filters, 2 replacement rollers and 2 Tineco detergents.

In conclusion I can say that if you already have the Stretch S6, switching to the S7 would make little sense, but if you have to buy your first floor cleaner or replace an obsolete model, this S7 Stretch ultra could certainly be the best choice.

La Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Ultra coastline 699€ of the list price but sometimes you can find it with some interesting discount. The price is certainly important, but I think it is fair for the quality of what you will take home. My advice is to put this article in your favorites and take a look at it every now and then because here we will always post the best offers for this beautiful Tineco S7 Stretch Ultra.
