The series Redmi Note 9, which includes among its ranks several variants (Yes, Pro e Pro Max), finds himself the protagonist of a very serious problem. This is not a software bug related to the MIUI, although lately the complaints in this regard are many. It is a hardware problem that unfortunately resulted from one lack of controls during construction of devices. If we want we can say that it is a qualitative problem: the rear cameras of the whole series suffer from infiltration of dust. Here are all the reports.

Although previously the number of units of Redmi Note 9 (the whole series therefore also the S and the Pro) affected by this problem was limited, it seems that with time the reports have increased. In particular, in the last period Twitter is invaded by users who make it known that the magnet present behind the body, on the camera, can't hold the dust.
Following numerous reports, one of the most present company executives on Twitter, Alvin Tse, responded by stating that at the moment only very few units have been confirmed. It has been requested, according to him, that i controls in the construction of this series of Redmi smartphones are strengthened further. In any case i assistance centers will be available to help victimized users.

The problem was also exposed on the I Global Community, in which the moderators replied that it would be advisable to move to receive one replacement. Based on what has been said in the community of xiaomists, the concern is related to a "quality control problem". In particular there seems to be a mini empty space between the body and the camera module which should however be filled with the silver magnet. An official statement is yet to arrive but if it has been (unofficially) established that it is a hardware problem, then it is very likely that a replacement can be requested.

Xiaomi Italy comments on the problem of dust in the cameras of Redmi Note 9. Below is the official press release:
“At Xiaomi, all of our products undergo a rigorous quality control process. However, minor problems may be encountered depending on usage.
We are aware that a small number of users are experiencing dust issues with their Redmi Note 9 series, and we are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
We advise our users who are facing this problem to bring their devices, together with the proof of purchase, to the nearest Xiaomi service center, where our technicians will offer their help and perform a thorough check."
Clearly, those who have purchased the smartphone or will purchase it through channels such as Banggood, Amazon, Gearbest and the like will be required to contact the relative customer service. From ours we can recommend attaching this article and, at a minimum, the aforementioned press release published by Xiaomi Italia to the refund / replacement request. It is not excluded that your particular model is free from this problem. Indeed, we hope! There are reports but at the moment it has not been said if a particular batch is affected by this concern. Amazon in my opinion will replace it without problems if you have this problem. Maybe when and if you ask for a refund / replacement, let them know that the problem is widespread 😉
There is no time for dust to appear, the fault is in the frame and design of the phone is not a simple gasket, your problem can be days, weeks or so.
