The current top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor has laid the foundation for the best Android smartphones of 2022. However today Qualcomm announced two new processors. One is its successor, namely it Snap 8+ Gen 1 (and not 8 Gen 1 +), which will arrive on the top of the range this year. The other is it Snap 7 Gen 1, the first mid-range processor of the “new series”. In reality, only the nomenclature is new. However, if in the first case we were expecting a brand new processor, we will be happy to know that its performance speaks of a All new SoC. Let's see the details.
Qualcomm presents Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, the new top-of-the-range and mid-range SoCs of 2022 smartphones
Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will offer performance of the 10% faster CPUs, clock of the 10% faster GPUs and will use the 15% less energy for “almost 1 hour” of gameplay or 50 minutes of browsing social media. These are the preliminary data Qualcomm has provided. Qualcomm claims to have gotten up to 30% more energy efficiency from both CPU and GPU e 20% better AI performance. Energy efficiency does not mean energy saving but performance in terms of consumption.

Qualcomm also announced the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 today, suggesting it is aimed at gamers. With a increase in 20% graphics performance compared to the previous generation and features such as "Adreno Frame Motion Engine" to make games smoother, the Qualcomm processor is a candidate to be the king of low-cost gaming phones. Low, so to speak considering the work behind it.
Honor, Oppo e Xiaomi they are the only brands listed using the latter processor. Furthermore, the company says that the devices in question will arrive by second quarter of 2022, although they will be announced earlier.
