The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 officially unveiled - Xiaomi is at the forefront!

During the Snapdragon Tech Summit held in Hawaii, Qualcomm officially unveiled its new and powerful mobile platform Snapdragon 845, which should equip most of the flagship phones in the 2018. The 845 Snapdragon receives the big legacy left behind by the previous generation 835 SD, which has recorded record results in terms of energy efficiency and power in the field of advanced image and video processing. At these performances, which will surely be improved, the Snapdragon 845 adds new advanced features, which include support for artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).

ES Jung, president of Samsung Electronics and General Manager of Foundry Business, has confirmed that it will be his company producing the Snapdragon 845 chipset.
While the SoC of the Snapdragon 835, undisputed reference of the market, has been realized with a production process a 10 nm, for the new SD 845 the same technology will be maintained in terms of transistor size, certainly reviewed and optimized in this second generation. The operation of the LTE Snapdragon X20 modem has been confirmed, which will be able to guarantee connectivity up to Gigabit on the supported networks.

But now we come to the news that perhaps more interested in enthusiasts of the Xiaomi brand. At the Tech Summit, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, took the stage and confirmed that the next flagship of the Beijing house will be moved by the Snapdragon 845. Despite this indiscretion, Jun refrained from revealing the name of the smartphone. Recent leaks, however, suggest that Xiaomi Mi 7 could be the company's first smartphone equipped with the new 845 SoC. About two months ago, it was reported that Qualcomm and Xiaomi have collaborated to optimize the performance of Snapdragon 845 on Xiaomi Mi 7.

The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 is officially unveiled - Xiaomi is on the front line!

In the recent past, Jun also confirmed that Xiaomi would focus on the capabilities of AI on its smartphones in the 2018. The adoption of the 845 Snapdragon would confirm this strategy. Moreover, it seems that finally what is perceived by many as Achilles' heel of Xiaomi will undergo a revolution: the 7 Mi, thanks to the power of the new SoC, will provide a photographic experience of the highest level, relying on a sensor from 12 MP Sony IMX380 and a second IMX35 sensor, again Sony, from 20 megapixel. Xiaomi Mi 7, we remember, it seems will be equipped with an AMOLED screen from 6,01 inches provided by Samsung. It is assumed that the Mi 7 would be the company's first phone with wireless charging capabilities and is likely to include the same battery as the Xiaomi Mi 6.
The Mi 7 will not be Lei Jun's only Snapdragon 845 smartphone. It is hypothesized that Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 can also be based on the same platform.

In addition to the Xiaomi premium product, the 845 SD should equip the flagship phones of Samsung, Sony, HTC and LG. Previous reports have revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 Plus would be the first Snapdragon 845 smartphones to reach the global market. In China, on the other hand, the primacy should belong to Lei Jun and partners, who should be able to beat the competition in their reference market. The new SoC should also power non-Android devices such as Windows 10 PCs.

The US-based chip maker has not disclosed the exact configuration of its new mobile platform at this time. Precise data is expected for today, so the advice is to stay tuned to our official Telegram channel and our Facebook group so as not to miss any news!
