Sony claims to have the technology to create humanoid robots

2022 has been a year full of surprises for robotics and engineering enthusiasts. Xiaomi presented CyberOne his first humanoid robot. Tesla, with the much talked about Elon Musk, has instead presented Optimus. Although some companies are working on a valid application of this bipedal robot, for now there is no large industry or common user interested in the novelty. The difficulty in creating the project due to the locomotion of the robot and software issues are considered by these manufacturers, but Sony may have figured out the fix.

After Elon Musk and Xiaomi, Sony also claims to be able to build humanoid robots. However, it's not time for her yet

The Japanese giant commented that the problem in advancing humanoid robots is not in the demand for parts or engineering development, but in the actual application of the product in everyday life. Some contribute positively to logistical areas or household tasks, while the humanoid version would be "lost" without a specific goal.

In an interview with ReutersSony chief technology officer Hiroaki Kitano said:

In terms of technology, a number of companies around the world, including this one [Sony], have amassed enough technology to make them quickly, once it becomes clear what use is promising

With this statement, the CFO affirmed in all respects that the brand could soon enter the tender. Kitano explains that Sony is interested in investing in the development of this type of device (so can we call it?), but this will happen only when such investment is deemed necessary. “We see potential in humanoid robots, but we also believe that other forms of robots are also quite important“, concludes the manager.
