The Xperia 1 VI maintains the series' minimalist design with a boxy appearance, flat edges and a flat back. The back features a pill-shaped camera island, reminiscent of the previous model. The biggest innovation in the design is given by the display, now in a more conventional 19.5:9 aspect ratio, rather than the cinematic 21:9.
Sony has chosen to abandon the 4K OLED display in favor of a 6,5-inch FHD+ panel (1080 x 2340 pixels). The phone still uses an OLED panel with HDR certification, full DCI-P3 and X1 color gamut coverage for mobile devices. It offers a refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 240Hz motion blur reduction. The display, together with the back, is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Under the hood, the Xperia 1 VI comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

For audio, the device offers full-stage front-facing stereo speakers that feature improvements in bass, clarity, and sound spread in width and depth compared to its predecessor. It also features a jack from 3.5mm for wired listening and includes technologies such as 360 Reality Audio, 360 Reality Audio hardware decoding, 360 Spatial Sound, Dolby Atmos, LDAC, DSEE Ultimate, Qualcomm aptX HD audio and LE Audio for a rich audio experience
The battery has one capacity of 5,000mAhcombined with one 30W USB PD fast charging as well as Qi wireless charging. For connectivity, it supports 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 ax and Bluetooth 5.4 LE. For navigation, the phone supports GPS and GLONASS. Furthermore, it has a door USB 3.2 Type-C, NFC and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Moving on to the strong point of the phone, the camera system features a48MP primary unit with a 1/1.3.5″ Exymor T sensor. It has an f/1.9 aperture with OIS and hybrid EIS support. Then we have a camera 12MP ultra-wide with an f/2.2 aperture and a focal length of 16mm and finally a camera with a 1/3.5″ sensor and an improved 85mm-170mm optical zoom lens which offers a 3.5x 7.1x optical zoom (21.3x hybrid zoom).
