Ever since Big G pushed its way into the smart phone market thanks to its Pixel devices, this has split further: whereas before the war was among the many Android vs Apple, at this time the conflict becomes tripartite seeing Google on the rise over the other two. The quality of the photographic industry on board its devices is undeniable, so much so that it is now common to install on devices (especially Xiaomi) the porting of the Google Camera: if you are interested lately the porting of the GCam 7.0 which we have described to you in this article (also for Redmi K20 Pro). Obviously the camera is not everything, but it is one of the main things a user looks at when buying a smartphone: but for the rest?
Speedtest Redmi K20 Pro vs Google Pixel 4 XL: data and results
The score purchased by Redmi K20 Pro compared to the brand new Google Pixel 4 XL it is not that high, but it is symptomatic (in our opinion) of one quality at software level not insignificant. Obviously, as you have already understood the winner is the Redmi, which by the way has also excelled against iPhone 11 Pro exactly a month ago. But now, given that this type of test does not say much about the superiority of one brand over another, let us proceed with the vision.
The hardware-level specifications between the two devices are almost identical: both are updated to Android 10, have a Snapdragon 855 processor and an Adreno 640 GPU; the only difference is the RAM on the Redmi K20 Pro (8 GB) compared to the Pixel 4 XL (6 GB). The test of Tech Thusiast is based, as usual, on application launch speed, in all 16: these are equally divided between games and social networks / shopping platforms / browsers. The challenge was organized in two rounds and we start with the camera app; as you continue with speedtest it is important to remember that all applications remain open in the background and they are absolutely not eliminated: this aspect is fundamental for the second round as it is based on the re-opening of the same apps, in reverse order, but with all the other open backgrounds.
We cut short: the first round ends with a tie. In particular the Redmi in question wins only on Jetpack Joyride, Mario Run, Pokemon Go and Temple Run 2 applications; for what concern Pixel wins instead on the Camera, Chrome Browser, Candy Crush and Dolphin Emulator apps; for the rest it's all in a tie.
But from now, as for the previous test, the game gets more interesting because in the background they are open well 16 different processes and the workload on each of the devices is not small. In this second round the little devil he has one comeback to the final, winning on the first Instagram applications, HotDeals, Chrome Browser and Amazon. As mentioned last time, such a comparison says nothing about the real behavior of the devices in question (the accomplice of the victory of Redmi is also the largest amount of RAM) but we like to think that our smartphone has done a great job beating 14 to 10 that of Google.
As always we reiterate that the point on which we want to focus immense I say increase an unnecessary hatred towards brands that present their devices on the market at a high price, but rather to make people think that even devices at much more accessible prices can hold up, and sometimes win, against the more famous ones that are notoriously recognized as "elites". Fortunately, tests like these can help us more than a videorecensione to choose the device that comes close to our tastes and our needs, avoiding a possible unnecessary waste of money.
But what do you think? Do you like these tests and do you want to see them again? Let us know in the comments.
In my opinion the difference is all in those extra 2g of RAM. In fact, the pixel has the advantage, but as the apps remain open the redmi recovers and ends in advantage.
Hello Marco! No doubt it is also for that: 2GB are not few and make the difference. But even if Redmi K2O Pro had those 2GB less and therefore it cost less, do you think the price gap would be justified? These Tech Thusiast tests that I propose make me think of how much money can be saved for (almost) the same hardware.
Hi Gianluca, absolutely the deficit is not justified but I was just making a speech of performance. Then if we make a general discourse it is logical that redmi has a more adequate cost.
