Suggested RYYB filter instead of RGGB on the next top of the Xiaomi range

Most users are unaware that one is currently taking place in China war. No fear, no death but simply a war of words with two telephony giants: Xiaomi and Huawei. This conflict is taking place on Weibo, just as politicians sometimes do their job on Twitter and it affects a particular sector of mobile telephony or photography. Much is being debated about the importance of photographic sector of smartphones and it seems that to put a stone on these discussions there is DxOMark. In any case, to cut this conflict it seems that our brand has suggested that on the next Xiaomi devices a RYYB filter will be mounted instead of RGGB.

Before proceeding to describe what will be the difference between the RYYB and RGGB filters (the one currently in use on smartphones), we are particularly keen to make you aware of thisbitter dispute between Xiaomi and Huawei. The two brands are clashing on the Chinese social network as they both try to reach the primacy as regards the photographic sector of their respective devices. Unfortunately or fortunately the result is not given by the end user but by the portal DxOMark that scores smartphones cameras. Lately, as you know, the top of the rankings is very close and the My Notes 10 he struggled a lot to reach the first places.

While on the one hand we fight with sensors with many megapixels, the counterpart plays with technology and in fact has presented the devices Honor V30, V30 Pro and Huawei P40 Pro with RYYB filter that serves for capture more light and take much better photos. All that glitters is not gold because if on the one hand improves the luminance rendering, greater than the RGGB filter, on the other you notice one less precision in color rendering. In short, it is a step forward, yes, but with some contraindications. On a technical level, what changes between the "new filter and the old one" is the replacement of pixels in the RGB mosaic. As we know the colors used are red, green and blue but in the RYYB filter those used are red, yellow and blue. This allows the photographic sensor to capture more light than normal.

Going back to the bomb, Lu Weibing would have suggested the arrival on Xiaomi devices of the RYYB filter. As usual, however, he did not clearly communicate everything and indeed, the users suggested it. Through a nice "fill the spaces", the general manager of Redmi threw the bomb anticipating that the brand's high-end devices will most likely include this very interesting feature.

What about: after the 108 megapixel sensor on Mi Note 10, the brand is aiming high for smartphones cameras. To be honest we do not know if this will be enough to bring (but above all we do not know how long it will take) Xiaomi at the top of the DxOMark ranking. What we know for sure is that it is not such a chart that considers which is the best device ever. We have always believed that the the best result is given by the device which, in the user's hand, takes excellent photos for the user himself. High scores are not symptomatic of good photo quality.

But what do you think of it? Do you believe that Xiaomi will be able to become the first brand in this sense, in the eternal race to who has it better? But most of all: combining the 108 megapixel sensor with this generation of filter, how much will the photographs taken improve? Write it in the comments!

It has been known since ancient times that the truth is always in the middle! So why not mount an RGYB filter?
