Teclast T40 Plus - The Android tablet you don't expect… and then what a price !!!!
The tablet market, after a decline in part justified in terms of hardware and functionality, is now experiencing a moment of revival, largely due to the fact that many have been forced to rely on devices that allow them to perform remote tasks, such as meetings. and distance learning (DAD). Among the companies that have continued to believe in this market we find Teclast which in its list boasts many tablets with the most disparate prices and from which today we present perhaps one of the best in terms of quality / price ratio, or the Teclast T40 Plus.
As always, let's start with the contents of the sales package, a recycled cardboard, which contains the following elements:

- Quick guide and warranty manual;
- Pin for removing the SIM tray;
- Cable for USB Type-C charging and data transfer;
- Wall power supply, with European socket and max output 5V-2.5A / 12.5W.
Teclast T40 Plus immediately stands out for a rather pleasant and modern design, inspired in part by the latest iPads, but in part iconic thanks to a double material as regards the backcover. This in fact is made for a large part of the surface from aluminum that joins with an upper band made of plastic, as below it we find the various antennas for the connectivity of the tablet, in which a camera has been inserted.
The square profiles but at the same time not "sharp" are instead made of aluminum, therefore the mixture of materials allows perfect ergonomics and handling of the tablet, also thanks to the dimensions of 248 x 157 x 10 mm, with a total weight of approximately 455 grams. Of course, the Teclast T40 Plus is not to be used with a single hand, but holding it in the hand for a considerable time will almost never tire, facilitating daily use.
Good supply of ports related to connectivity, boasting the presence of a 3,5 mm jack for wired earphones, a hybrid SIM slot capable of hosting 2 SIMs in nano format, or 1 SIM and a micro SD card to expand the internal memoery. Then there is the USB Type-C input for charging and OTG support, to which you can connect keys and accessories but no video output, volume rocker, power button and 4 speakers as well as main microphone and secondary microphone.
We speak directly of reception and sound, having mentioned 4 speakers that overall offer a well-balanced sound as well as enriched by a generous volume, without distorting at the highest levels. You could do something more in terms of bass depth, but overall these speakers do their job in full and then their strategic position allows you to never stifle the audio that comes out with your hands while holding the tablet.
The integrated 4G LTE module working on both slots also allows you to continue your work and / or use of multimedia content even on the move, with good reception. We can also call, but the dimensions of the product match poco with this function, which in any case exists if necessary and this does not hurt.
The camera on the rear, an 8 MP unit with autofocus, allows a good capture of documents but abandon the idea of using it to immortalize memories or the performances of your children, as quality leaves a lot to be desired. On the other hand, the 5 MP selfie camera is surprising, which in combination with the microphones of the tablet, allows you to perform video-calls and more, offering good audio capture and a more than decent video quality.
Finally, in terms of connectivity, there is no lack of Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, Dual WiFi and finally also a GPS with Galileo satellite connection, transforming the Teclast T40 Plus into a super navigator to be placed alongside your car.
After each model there is a tendency to improve some aspects in the next one. And that's exactly what happened with this T40 Plus where we finally find an IPS LCD display with Full HD + resolution (2000 x 1200 pixels) from 10,4 ", with T-Color 2.0 and a density of 225 ppi. This is not a revolution but still a nice leap forward compared to what was proposed on some previous models. Thanks to this change, in fact, the colors turn out to be much more vivid and bright, while continuing to show blacks poco deep and white tending slightly to blue.
We come to one of the most important aspects to take into consideration when buying a tablet, that is the display which in the case of the Teclast T40 Plus turns out to be a 10,4 ″ diagonal panel made with IPS technology, 225 PPI, Full HD + resolution. (2000 × 1200). A T-Color 2.0 display provided by BOE Techonology, which unfortunately does not support HDR content nor at the software level, enjoys Widevine L1 DRMs, which stop at L3.
All this to say that we do not have support for HD content on streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, but the responsiveness of the panel and the good color calibration, mean that the multimedia contents reproduced on the screen are of good quality and chromatic fidelity. The rather small frames contribute to that degree of immersion required for this type of tech products, they also benefit from good visibility under direct sunlight, even if I have to report the absence of a brightness sensor, which will force us to level in manual way the backlight of the panel.
More or less demanding tasks are entrusted to the Unisoc T618 processor, an octa-core CPU with 12 nm production process and maximum clock at 2.0 GHz (2 x ARM Cortex A75 from 2.0GHz + 6 x ARM Cortex A55 from 1.8 GHz) which is accompanied by the Mali G52 3EE GPU with frequency at 850 MHz, as well as 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM memory and 128 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD). Abbreviations and numbers that for Teclast T40 Plus translate into performance above expectations, being able to range from the more classic sofa use to the more productive Office type but also to the playful one of gaming.
With the right accessories, you might even think of him as a small PC for walking, but without exaggerating. At a graphic level, the most recent Android game titles are not played at the highest levels, but the gaming experience is fluid and pleasant, also because the combination of hardware means that the tablet never overheats.
Teclast T40 Plus offers Android 11 in a practically stock version, without any kind of customization while the security patches are still in April 2021. The stock essence of the operating system undoubtedly contributes to the stability and reliability of the product but if you are fanatic of updates, keep in mind that the updates on this terminal may probably never arrive. However, the full support for the ecosystem of Google apps is good, something not so obvious when it comes to "Chinese people".
Giving a real estimate on the autonomy of a tablet is always difficult, also because the use of these machines varies greatly from user to user. In any case, Teclast T40 Plus can count on a 6600 mAh battery that can satisfy the widest variety of uses, from the most intense to the most peaceful. It is therefore stupid to talk to you about hours and minutes of active screen, but certainly ranging from gaming, to Office use to the more multimedia one, you will always be able to take home at least two days full of yield with a good supply of residual charge, even if it goes. pointed out that in Dual 4G VoLTE connectivity, the autonomy drops more drastically.
PROJECTED IMPACT
We have come to conclusions that cannot fail to be positive, considering that Teclast T40 Plus is currently sold on Banggood, through the exclusive discount coupon, at a price of 172 euros. A real bargain if we think that with this tablet you will fully cover every use you want to make of it.
You will not be disappointed in gaming, multimedia and the simple management of e-mails, spreadsheets or other, where other examples of rival brands fail, at least not in terms of reliability and positive experience that the Teclast example offers us. And then there is that good dose of design, which makes the product seem to belong to a higher range of the market where it is placed.
