This is why the company POCO did not present a smartphone with Snapdragon 855/865 CPU

POCO X2 was officially presented about 48 hours ago and any enthusiasm for this smartphone from both the media and users loyal to the brand has already waned. The reason is to be found in the fact that the terminal was a simple rebrand of the Redmi K30 for the global market but above all of the fact that we cannot speak of a real flagship, since the processor adopted under the hood is neither a Snapdragon 865 nor let alone an 855.

Be clear, POCO X2 still remains a good device, an excellent mid range that hides many tricks up its sleeve, such as the display with 120 Hz refresh rate, 4 high-performance cameras and a very low price, but if many were waiting for a successor to Pocophone F1, the bitterness in the mouth remains. But what happened in the house POCO? Why did the company not delight us with a high-end smartphone with a top processor, astounding us with a low price, as happened for the previous generation?

The application was submitted to the general manager of Poco, Manmohan Chandolu, who responded by first defining his own company a startup, therefore The cost of Qualcomm's flagship 2019 and 2020 SoCs was not considered feasible.

Current chipsets, all 800 series chipsets, are extremely expensive. And the Snapdragon 865, being the first 5G generation, is definitely the most expensive "

This is why the company POCO did not present a smartphone with Snapdragon 855/865 CPU

According to the executive, the Snapdragon 845 is a true workhorse in terms of performance and extremely convenient in terms of price, but unfortunately the 845 is no longer available on the market. Perhaps a questionable or perhaps shareable statement but many would have liked to spend even more in order to enjoy a top chipset. Or maybe not?

The general director of Poco, Manmohan Chandolu, insists that the Snapdragon 865 SoC is very expensive and it would not have made any sense to propose it as a device in the line up POCOPHONE. It might have been possible to consider the 855 model, but the latter chipset did not see the same depreciation expected by the company. The Snapdragon 855 was launched on the market with a slightly higher price and POCO therefore expected the right depreciation, but the transition between 4G and 5G did not help the drop in prices.

This is why the company has folded back on the octacore Snapdragon 730G, much cheaper. On the other hand, the processor in question remains faithful to the gaming philosophy, which the previous F1 had as a dowry. Without going into funded technicalities, the executive lets us know that 5G processors are 50% more expensive than their 4G counterparts. This will not only increase unnecessarily the cost of the next flagship smartphones in markets where 5G is not yet dominant, but it will also prevent "small companies" of the caliber of Poco to show off a budget 5G phone.

Finally Manmohan Chandolu does not appear to be confident about launching an affordable 5G device, by virtue of the fact that at the moment POCO seems to want to remain a company confined to India alone where any 5G infrastructure is absent and therefore at the moment it would not serve the interests of POCO.

Furthermore, the Indian company must also consider not entering into direct competition with the former mother Xiaomi, of whom it still shares many of the same resources, research and development. POCO, in part it also seems to find justification for the probable price increases that Xiaomi has in store for the launch of Mi 10. For now, however, the "new" POCO X2 marks the return of the company that this time promises to stay and not disappear for over a year. And what do you think of it?

E produto é bom e vai vender bem, não sei if foi a estratégia certain, mas isso o mercado dirá.
