How the technology on board the Mi Mix 3 works

Il 25 October last after the release of the Mi Mix 3, which some have satisfied while others do not (especially in China), we could not tell you about the technology mounted on this terminal and what are the differences with traditional smartphones. In fact today we will talk about how GPS, WiFi technologies work and LTE on the new flagship.

How dual-GPS works

As we know, traditional smartphones to date have only supported the L1 band regarding the reception of the GPS signal and this has made it this signal susceptible to precision drops and interference from the atmosphere interposed between us and the satellite. As for the Xiaomi Mi8, the 3 Mi Mix is equipped with GPS technology double which allows the device to use not only the L1 band but also the L5. As we can see in the images below, the L5 band allows the device not to receive signal interference when placed in a very shielded place like in high buildings

and in the same place the L1 band presents interferences of signal

Walking around the city (obviously a Chinese city) trajectories drawn by the two devices are quite different: while for the Mi Mix (left) 3 the trajectory is less noisy and cleaner, respecting, inter alia, the coincidence with the road, for the iPhone XS Max (right) the trajectory turns out to be more disconnected and variable where in some points it is even diverted.

As we have already seen this technology is also present on the 8 Mi and allows reception of ultra-fast WiFi signal. The 3 Mi Mix comes with a technology called "MU-MIMO"That means"multiple utent-multi-input multiple outputs": This allows us to support routers, telephones and computers at the same time, and routers that simultaneously support multiple devices simultaneously transmit data without the need for a network, thus improving accuracy and decreasing consumption even of battery.

Returning to the 3 Mi Mix, it is equipped with a double antenna inside that allows therefore to have two data transmission channels and two data reception channels: transmitting and connecting two channels simultaneously speed increases exponentially compared to the capacities carried by the devices with only one antenna.

Regarding the data reception without WiFi signal The 3 Mi Mix turns out to be over-the-top. In fact, as for the WiFi signal here we have more antennas but I'm not 2, but 4: technology 4 MIMO (see above) allows you to have 4 antennas for reception and 4 for data transmission. As we well imagine speed doubles compared to the speed supported by traditional deviceseven if we have to say that radio stations should be adequate to support this speed, we never buy a phone from almost 600 € and we can not enjoy this speed. For players these 4 antennas fall like the godsendIn fact, an employee of Xiaomi said that it is possible play by turning the phone on both sides without anything and no screens receiving antennas from one side or the other.

And what do you think? Are you convinced that this smartphone is really a device that comes close to perfection? Or how the Chinese are starting to think, is not it worth spending so much money on a phone that has, in the end, only the sliding design and that it would be smarter to take maybe a Mi8?
