No one expected the presentation of a second smartphone during the Chinese company's event. The wait was all for the Mi Note 2, but Xiaomi surprised everyone by presenting the Mi Mix, which was able to steal the show thanks to its innovative look.
Xiaomi Mi Mix is a 6.4-inch 2040 × 1080 pixel phablet, which adopts a surprising design, curated by the well-known French designer Philippe Starck, with almost non-existent frames. The latter are not in fact present, except for the lower part of the phone. In fact, the screen covers 91,3% of the device.
Mi Mix will come in two variants. The first is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 at 2,35 GHz, 4 GB of LPDDR4 memory and 128 GB of ROM. The second model, called Mi Mix 18K given the 18-karat gold finish around the rear camera and the fingerprint sensor, has 2 GB of RAM more and double the ROM memory. Both versions will be powered by a 4400mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. There is no shortage of the most common features such as NFC, Wi.Fi, LTE etc.
Mi Mix does not give up on the 3.5 mm jack and allows you to play Hi-Fi audio in high resolution 192kHz / 24bit. The adoption of this design, however, forced Xiaomi to reposition some components. The proximity sensor is under the screen and uses ultrasound technology to detect the position of the face. The speaker is located in the same position and uses an innovative technology that allows the vibrations of the voice to be transmitted through the glass. The front camera, which uses a small sensor, is located at the bottom right, where the frame is present. The rear camera is 16 megapixel and is equipped with PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus).
Mi Mix will be available starting from November 4th. The cost of the 18K version will be around 540 euros, while the basic version will cost around 475 euros.
