Assembly and Package Contents
The bike it arrived in a week from the GeekMall warehouse in Europe, perfectly packaged with protective polystyrene and partially assembled. All we have to do is fix the handlebars, the front wheel and the pedals. It can all be done in half an hour even by yourself and if you have a minimum of practicality.
As always, I advise you to check the tightness of all the screws because even if it is checked by the factory in China, during the journey with vibrations, it is not uncommon to find how many screws are loose.

Design
The Turoll U1 has a classic mountain bike design, with a matte black color that gives it a "premium" touch. The battery is "visible" fixed stably on the frame but It can be removed to recharge it at home or for security reasons.
Excellent welds and robustness in general which allow it to be tolerated loads up to 120kg which is a good value and average for this range of bikes.
The version I tested is the one with 29" tires and more generous dimensions (187x69x111 cm) comparable to an M/L size frame suitable for heights between 160 and 195 cm. The weight of only 23.5 kg is rather low for this type of bicycle and guarantees good handling. The saddle is adjustable, suitable for heights between 155-195 cm.
Sul handlebars we find on the left the on-board computer which, although without a display it has 4 indicator lights that indicate battery charge and 3 three for assistance modes, as well as controls to turn on the front light and select the assistance level. There is also a button to start the "walk mode" which lightens the weight when we push the bicycle in pedestrian areas.
The gear control for the crowns is positioned on the right while the control for the sprockets is on the right. The gearbox is a good quality, but not professional, 21-speed Shimano gearbox.
Performance and autonomy
La Turoll U1 mounts a engine from 250W, the same one tested in the Turoll J1 ST, supported by a 468Wh battery which reaches the remarkable thrust of 45Nm enough to climb 15° slopes quite easily in assisted mode. I was pleasantly surprised by the push, considering the small engine which falls within the legal limits, but which provides prompt and effective help after half the first pedal stroke.
The start is always in "muscular" mode, we then have 3 different levels of assistance which share the same power but which interrupt the assistance when reaching speed: Level 1 at 9km/h; level 2 at 18km/h; level 3 at 25km/h.
The thrust is also managed well and offers progression but as in all e-bikes like this one with a speed sensor, we have a small initial void which can be problematic when starting uphill but which is easily compensated for with the manual accelerator if you decide to mount it.
Overall theWhole electric assist system works very well and it provided me with the necessary help to ease the effort of pedaling even uphill over 15 ° it is still necessary.
La 13Ah battery charging in 6 hours and "should" guarantee a range of 65km but in reality they are 50/55, not many actually, but the small battery has allowed the weight to be limited in favor of better agility.

Comfort and safety
La Turoll U1 it is a mountain bike that is also appreciated on asphalt roads but is especially suited to off-road thanks to the 29" CST tires which are on average knobby and 2,1" wide, but also thanks to the hydraulically suspended fork which guarantees comfortable driving on uneven terrain but also on roads with potholes.
Il braking system it is of the mechanical disc type, both on the front and rear, with 16 cm discs which generate decisive braking but which requires a certain effort on the lever, I believe, due to the adoption of ceramic pads which I recommend replacing at first change. Even downhill or at high speed, the bike stops in a reasonable distance.
Speaking of security it is right to mention the the integrated LED light on the front, powerful, adjustable and controlled directly from the on-board computer. We also find on the rear a small position light which is fixed on the seat post, with independent battery. There is no shortage of reflectors placed on the spokes of the wheels which increase passive visibility.
Touroll U1 29" – Conclusions and Price
Touroll U1 29" is an electric mountain bike that is pleasant to ride in all conditions, furthermore, it is one of the few economical e-bikes with 29" wheels, therefore also suitable for "tall" statures.
The engine is not very powerful but at least is within the law and it is still more than sufficient where the slopes are not exaggerated. Disc brakes and suspension fork are appreciated for relaxed and safe rides.
But the Turoll U1 is appreciated above all for its impressive value for money. If we exclude the lack of a display in the on-board computer, it has nothing to envy of other products that I have tried and which are sold for €700.
