UNBOXING - Huami Amazfit: first start up and firmware update

The Huami Amazfit packaging is very simple and elegant at the same time. Inside we find the smartwatch anchored to a cardboard base, while there are two compartments for accessories including the USB charging cable with micro USB connector, the instruction manual in Chinese useful for scanning QR code which allows us the download the proprietary app and a charging base, but not magnetic, which is very convenient as once the smartphone is housed the base does not move slightly, unlike the usual magnetic attacks.
When we turn on the Amazfit for the first time it will take about a minute after which a device display will be shown further QR code which allows us to download the app,pairing via bluetooth with our smartphone. In fact, entering the Amazfit application for the first time we will be asked to pair the smartwatch with the permissions required for notifications etc ..
FIRMWARE UPDATE
Always from the app you can set some parameters, change Watch Faces and more but we will deepen the knowledge of the application in the complete review that will follow.
The smartwatch is completely in Chinese language with ROM version 0.9.5, so you will need to upgrade to the latest firmware in English, but be careful not to enable the Developer updates.
You can check this by clicking on the icon at the top left of the application where your MIUI account's picture appears and then you will open a menu and the Preview feature will check what you just said by saying that you have given a check to the possible options.
Also from this menu you can make the 'firmware update of your Amazfit or from the smartwatch just swipe from top to bottom to make notifications appear and scroll right until you find a 'gear icon, basically that of the Settings. At this point, tap on the icon and enter the Settings menu, where you scroll down you will find another arrow icon from which you can access the firmware update you need to confirm by taping on the green check mark.
It will then start updating that it will take approximately 10 minutes to install on the smartwatch and once the device is finished the device will restart. At this point you are ready to be able to translate ROM from Chinese to Italian.
In my case, the download downloaded was 1.2.11c which apparently despite having not enabled the option Developer still belongs to this branch, but fortunately Nicola Sagliano, author of the Amazfit Translation Tool, already has released in record time the translation even for this version, which I thank personally.

Hi Max undoubtedly the price of the Chinese version is cheaper but especially if you like to "tweak" the Chinese version offers many more options. 🙂
