Assembly and Package Contents
The bike it arrived in a week from the warehouse in Europe, perfectly packed with protective polystyrene and partially assembled. All that remains is to fix the handlebars, the front wheel, the pedals and the mudguards. It can all be done in half an hour even by yourself and if you have a minimum of practicality.
As always, I advise you to check the tightness of all the screws because even if it is checked by the factory in China, during the journey with vibrations, it is not uncommon to find how many screws are loose.

Design

La Varun M27-1 It has a classic mountain bike design, inevitably similar to many others already reviewed on the channel. It is available in both blue and red, the latter being more beautiful in my opinion. The battery is "exposed" and fixed stably on the frame but It can be removed to recharge it at home or for security reasons.
Excellent welds and robustness in general which allow it to be tolerated loads up to 150kg, a value that we rarely find in this range of bicycles.
The dimensions are those of a size M frame (178x70x103 cm) suitable for heights up to 1.94m, but more comfortable for intermediate heights given the 27.5″ tires. The weight of 25 kg is not the lightest for this type of bicycle but does not compromise its handling. The saddle is not of excellent quality, but sufficient for amateur use.



On the handlebars, which are 70 cm wide, we find the assistance control, the on-board computer and the lights conveniently positioned on the left. 3.7″ display is very nice and big, allows easy reading of all values at a glance.
On the right is the gear control for the chainrings, while on the right is the gear control for the sprockets. The gear change is a good quality, but not professional, 21-speed Shimano. Furthermore, if you decide to fit the kit for electric-only mode, the accelerator will be positioned on the right.
Management application





La Varun M27-1 It is available in two versions: with and without management via the smartphone application Key-Disp.
The application is certainly an added value that adds some small conveniences:
- Support level management
- Light control
- Choosing units of measurement
- History of trips made
There are two functions that I particularly appreciated. The bicycle diagnostic test which checks 6 of the most important circuits so as to make a thorough diagnosis to communicate to the assistance or for independent repairs. There is also a dashboard with map and GPS positioning, useful during your trips, but which unfortunately seems to be only paid.
Performance and autonomy


La Varun M27-1 mount a classic engine from 250W but supported by a 624Wh battery which reaches the remarkable thrust of 80Nm, compared to the classic 45/50, sufficient to climb slopes of up to 30° quite easily in assisted mode. I was surprised by the push, considering the small engine that falls within the legal limits, but which provides prompt and effective assistance even in challenging situations.
The start is always in "muscular" mode, we then have 3 different levels of assistance which share the same power but which interrupt the assistance when reaching speed: Level 1 at 9km/h; level 2 at 18km/h; level 3 at 25km/h.
The thrust is also well managed and offers progression but as in all e-bikes like this one with a speed sensor, we have a small initial gap which can be problematic when starting uphill but which is easily compensated with themanual accelerator if you decide to mount it.

Overall theWhole electric assist system works very well and it gave me the help I needed to ease the strain of pedaling uphill up to 30° where the others stop at 15°.
La 13Ah battery charging in 6 hours and "should" guarantee a range of 65km but in reality they are 50/55, not many actually, but the small battery has allowed the weight to be limited in favor of better agility.

Comfort and safety
La Varun M27-1 It is a mountain bike that can be appreciated on all types of terrain: the knobby tires, even if not very wide, and the hydraulically suspended fork They ensure comfortable driving off-road but also on potholed roads.


Il braking system it is of the mechanical disc type, both on the front and rear, with 16 cm discs which generate decisive braking but which requires a certain effort on the lever, I believe, due to the adoption of ceramic pads which I recommend replacing at first change. Even downhill or at high speed, the bike stops in a reasonable distance.

Speaking of security it is right to mention the the integrated LED light on the front, powerful, adjustable and controlled directly from the on-board computer. There is no shortage of reflectors placed on the spokes of the wheels and on the saddle tube that increase passive visibility.
Varun M27-1 – Conclusions and Price
La Varun M27-1 it's an electric mountain bike which stands out from many others on the market in this range thanks to its powerful battery that offers performances definitely above average and anexcellent autonomy. It is pleasant to drive in all conditions, thanks to the suspension fork which offers good comfort both in the city and off-road.
The rest of the technical equipment (brakes, gears, shock absorbers, lights) are of a good level and typical of this range of electric mountain bikes. The management via smartphone application is appreciable and is still a plus.
The price is also understandably higher than average, €854,99 (instead of €899,99) using the discount code 55VA on Official site. About 100/150€ higher than some competitors that however offer less power due to a less powerful battery, so all in all more than justified.
