live has just expanded its Y series with the official launch in India of the new Y31 5G and Y31 Pro 5G, two smartphones designed to offer solid performance and modern features at an affordable price. The two models are positioned as direct successors to the vivo Y29, but introduce significant improvements in terms of display, battery, protection, and chipset.

The vivo Y31 5G retains its 6,68-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1000 nits peak brightness. Under the hood, the device ditches the Dimensity 6300 chip for the latest Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, ensuring greater power efficiency and smoother performance. The battery has been increased to 6.500mAh, with support for 44W fast charging, while water and dust protection has been improved with IP68/IP69 certification, a significant improvement over the IP64 of the previous model.
On the back, the Y31 5G features a 50MP main camera accompanied by a 0.08MP secondary sensor. The software is based on Android 15 with OriginOS 15 interface, and the available configurations are 4/128GB and 6/128GB, with prices of INR 14.999 (about $170) and INR 16.499 (about $187), respectively. The available colors are Rose Red and Diamond Green.
Its bigger brother, the vivo Y31 Pro 5G, stands out with a larger 6,72-inch display with FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1050 nits peak brightness. The MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage options. Interestingly, the IP rating is IP64, lower than the base model.
Here too we find a 50MP main camera, flanked by a 2MP depth sensor. The battery remains 6.500mAh with 44W charging. The available colors are Mocha Brown and Dreamy White, with prices of INR 18.999 (about $215) for the 8/128GB version and INR 20.999 (about $238) for the 8/256GB version.
With this dual offering, vivo aims to strengthen its presence in the mid-range segment of the Indian market, offering modern design, long battery life, and balanced performance. Both models are already available on Flipkart, the official vivo website, and in physical stores.
