Yesterday Xiaomi has released its first Surge S1 proprietary processor smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 5C, a CPU to which the company was working for two years. It is said that the performance of the Xiaomi Mi 5C is better than all the smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 625 CPU. Yesterday we showed you one first AnTuTu test hurriedly done regarding the new smartphone and now we try to deepen together some details of the Xiaomi Mi 5C.
HUMAN
Xiaomi Mi 5C is designed with a lightweight design only 135 grams of weight, and reduced thickness thanks to the 7,09 mm even though the screen is one JDI by 5,15 inches. Panel size is a good compromise for those looking for large but small displays. Available colors will be gorgeous matte black, champagne, and rose gold.
The Xiaomi Mi 5C front panel has a type machining 2.5D and above the 8 megapixel front camera contributes to delineating the rounded design on all corners. Like Xiaomi Mi 5 / 5S, under the Home button there is the fingerprint scanner of FPC production, fast and reactive.
The back of the device is as usual divided into three phases, but the top and bottom use glass material, while the central body is made of aluminum alloy, creating a perfect blend of elegance and feel. The rear camera of the Xiaomi Mi 5C is entrusted to a sensor by 12 megapixel 1.25 um (so presumably the last one presented by OmniVision) accompanied by an LED flash. Furthermore, the Xiaomi Mi 5C is equipped with a port USB type C and infrared transmitter to control the various home appliances.
As already mentioned, the new Xiaomi Mi 5C will be powered by the mid-range in-house SurgeS1 processor with 4 + 4 Cortex A53 architecture, of which 4 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and the other 4 clocked at 1.4 GHz. The GPU is the excellent Small T860 MP4, and support will be available Volta for telephone calls. During the press conference, Xiaomi did not give any indication about LTE, which CAT belongs to, but seems to be ready OTA update related to the base band version.
It is interesting to note that with the default settings (balanced mode) only 6 of the available CPU cores are generally used, in order to safeguard battery life. In performance mode, however, all eight cores available are used at maximum frequency with excellent performance.
After testing in performance mode, the Xiaomi Mi 5C responded positively, continuing to return fluidity and no special overheating. The test particularly involved the King of Glory game with 28 fps, maintained in both modes. Therefore the processor Surge S1 is able to offer a remarkable user experience despite being driven by energy savings.
