The quality of multimedia contents plays a fundamental role in daily communication. That's why the latest update of WhatsApp, the messaging app owned by Meta, has generated a lot of interest. This is the introduction of high definition (HD) video sharing. The rollout of the function comes after the mirror one but that concerns sending photos in HD.
Update details: what changes when sending HD videos on WhatsApp
In the latest versions of WhatsApp, it has been noticed an option that allows send videos with a resolution of 1280×720, commonly known as HD. This functionality has been identified in the stable version of WhatsApp with the build number v2.23.16.76, but is also present in the beta versions of the app. To send a video in HD, you need to select the desired video and then tap the HD icon in the video editor toolbar. However, it is important to note that even if a video is recorded in a higher resolution, such as 8K, WhatsApp will compress it up to a maximum of 720p. This is still a significant improvement over the previous 480p cap.
Another aspect to consider is storage space. HD videos, being of higher quality, they take up more space than standard videos. Therefore, we recommend that you use this option carefully, especially if you send a lot of videos. The introduction of HD video sharing on WhatsApp is a significant step forward. Hopefully, more improvements will be introduced in the future to make the user experience even more satisfying.
