But the latest evidence tells of a step backwards for the brand: working on sensors with fewer megapixels.

According to information provided by an Indian leaker, taken from the lines of code of the MIUI customized interface, it seems that Xiaomi is with his hands in the pie to bring new devices to the market. It is premature to talk about the full specifications, if not inappropriate. In fact it's just about inferences (rather obvious but not officially confirmed) which may not be effective. But let's get to the heart of the matter. These lines of code are highlighted few words but very interesting: 100 and 50 megapixels.
The leaker reveals that these two sensors will be part of the photographic sector of two Xiaomi smartphones. But the interesting thing is that they will both be main sensors. As a result, we could assume that the brand's camera policy is taking a new turn. Of course, these are always astronomical figures but since there are currently no sensors of this type on the market, it is plausible to think that the company is developing custom sensors with other companies. For example, remember the leak (later not confirmed) according to which OnePlus was designing the camera for the OnePlus 9 with the German LEICA.
That said, we await further confirmation from the brand. We don't expect an imminent launch of smartphones with these sensors though, this is it poco but sure.
