It was yesterday presented the Xiaomi 12 series composed of three models: a standard, a Pro and a smaller one called 12X. The three smartphones were long overdue, especially the standard and X variants: these in fact represent the return of (almost) compact devices, thanks to a smaller form factor than what we have been used to seeing for a few years. During the presentation there was also talk of updates of the Xiaomi 12 series and the warranty. It is worth spending a few words on the matter. Let's see everything there is to know.
Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro and 12X how many Android updates and security patches will they receive? And also, how much warranty do the three smartphones have?
Let's start with the guarantee: i three models Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro and 12X will enjoy two years of official guarantee of the supplier. In addition to this, a “Plus” is added which is the one free repair of the screen within the first six months of purchase. An exception as for the 12 Pro modelOnly this of the three can enjoy an extended warranty in over 50 different markets. This means that we will be able to repair our smartphone for free (within the two-year warranty) even if we are in one of these countries. Let's now move on to the updates: first of all, only Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro will come with Android 12 pre-installed while the 12X model will arrive with Android 11. This then is the starting point for the operating system. Models 12 and 12 Pro will receive 3 Android updates and therefore will arrive at Android 15 and 4 years of security patch updates. Unfortunately, the 12X model is not mentioned, so we assume that it will have 2 Android updates (up to Android 14) and 3 years of security patch updates.
Nothing has been said for the MIUI updates. Unfortunately it is not possible to say for sure how many Android skin updates each device will receive. We could say 3 in logic, but if Xiaomi behaves like last year that released an "intermediate version", unfortunately we should count it as one and therefore it would only come to 2 concrete updates.
