Well, today some renders and real images of the Xiaomi 12 Pro have been published online. According to the images, there is one element that has caught the attention of users: the Xiaomi Mi 12 Pro does not seem to equip a rear camera with a periscope telephoto lens that we found with the previous generation. Furthermore, the brand has never said anything about it.
Also today, the well-known Chinese leakster Digital Chat Station has unofficially confirmed that the Xiaomi 12 Pro will no longer have the telephoto camera, with the periscope lens that will be an exclusive of the future Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
While this may be seen as something negative, we have to admit that it's actually not that bad. After several years of struggles between brands for who has the best performing periscope telephoto lens, we have arrived at a calmer period, especially since this feature does not affect daily use so much. On the contrary, perhaps it is better to save money in this area and do a good job with the main camera and the wide angle.
Furthermore, as this new Xiaomi 12 series focuses more on thin and light bodies, there is more space for the battery inside the body, as the periscope lens poses significant challenges in terms of thickness and width.
That said, in the future, the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra which will focus even more on cameras, is bound to compromise on size and will be equipped with the best specs in all categories. The periscope telephoto lens will also return, providing users with a first-rate photographic experience especially for those more demanding or with semi-professional needs.
