Xiaomi 12 Pro could come out in a variant with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Qualcomm processor will debut after May 2022. Here are the details
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has not yet debuted and according to the information in our possession it will be released after May 2022. Xiaomi 12 Pro version 2 (we call it trivially so for convenience), it seems that it will equip this processor. According to the source, the updated Xiaomi 12 Pro has a "provisional" name L2s and the SoC will be a Qualcomm SM8475. According to some rumors, this chipset will enter the market under the trade name Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus.
The exact specifications of the chip have not been disclosed - it is known that, like its predecessor, it will be manufactured using the technology of TSMC 4 nm process, but at the same time it will receive a number of improvements over the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 (SM8450). Putting two and two together and based on information unofficially disclosed by insiders, production of the new processor will begin to May 2022 and the first smartphones based on it will appear on the market in the second half of the year. Therefore, the release of the modified 12 Pro model will take place not before the end of the summer or early autumn of this year.
Clearly we can also expect a change in the name of the device. Nothing excludes that it will be just one Xiaomi 12 Ultra (or MIX 5 Pro).
