We are already almost in the middle of June and the first batch of smartphones with Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 processor created with TSMC's 4nm manufacturing process is expected to be released soon, with Xiaomi appearing to be one of the most active brands.
Xiaomi 12S caught on Geekbench: Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 confirmed?
In this regard, today a device with model number 2206123SC has appeared in the Geekbench 5 database, it is assumed that this is the next Xiaomi 12S.
In the screenshot of the benchmark on Geekbench we can see that the smartphone manages to obtain a single-core score of 1328 points and a multi-core score of 4234. We also note that the processor has a maximum clock frequency of 3,19 GHz and it is coupled with 12GB of RAM. While the operating system on the device is Android 12.
From what we learned from Qualcomm's presentation, compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen1, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 has a 10% increase in CPU performance and a 15% reduction in overall power consumption. In the test we see an increase of about 10% in performance regarding the single core score, while the multi-core one does not come close at all. Clearly we have no info about energy consumption, unfortunately.
In any case, according to the previous news regarding the 3C certification, this showed us that the next Xiaomi 12S will support fast charging with a maximum power of 67 W, so nothing exceptional considering that we have Xiaomi smartphones with 120W charging.
As for the design and other specs, the Xiaomi 12S shouldn't change much from the base Xiaomi 12 launched a few months ago. The most important change should reside in the photographic sector where the brand should bring a lens upgrade after the official announcement of the collaboration with Leica, one of the leaders in photography.
