As scheduled, Xiaomi has just launched the new 12S series in China. The series includes the Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and 12S Ultra; let's go and discover them together!
Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and 12S Ultra official: presented the super flagship with 1 ″ Sony sensor and Leica optics
Let's start from the base model, the Xiaomi 12S which debuts together with the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chip. Xiaomi pointed out that this is not a small update and the power consumption of the CPU and GPU is small.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 is Qualcomm's latest flagship chip and sees an upgrade to TSMC's 4nm manufacturing process and the super core frequency has been increased to 3,2 GHz and power consumption has also been significantly optimized.
According to the data released by Xiaomi, the CPU power consumption on the Snapdragon 8+ is reduced by 33% and the GPU power consumption is reduced by 30%. Even with these savings from an energy point of view, the smartphone broke all records on AnTuTu, as we have already seen Thu.
Furthermore, Xiaomi claims to have developed dynamic performance planning technology, which brings an improvement in performance and power consumption. The chipset can be dynamically adjusted for different cores, frequencies and refresh rates in different scenarios. So for example with a game running at 120Hz, the processor is used to its full capacity.
This hardware powers a 6,28-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.
As for photography, the Xiaomi 12S uses a 50MP main camera (Sony IMX707 sensor), together with a 13MP ultra wide angle camera with 123 degrees FOV and a 5MP telemacro lens.
As for autonomy and charging, the smartphone integrates a 4500mAh battery, supports 67W wired fast charging, 50W wireless and 10W wireless reverse charging.
The Xiaomi 12S has a starting price of 3999 yuan (570 euros) for the 8GB / 128GB version
Moving on to the Xiaomi 12S Pro, the higher version comes with the same Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chip, but we see upgrades in all other areas.
For example, the screen is now a 6,73-inch AMOLED panel with 2K resolution and LTPO technology.
The 50MP main camera (also Sony IMX707 sensor) is now accompanied by a 50MP telephoto lens, as well as the 50MP ultra wide lens.
As for the battery, the Xiaomi 12S Pro integrates one from 4600mAh, therefore larger, and supports charging from 120W, the wireless one remains 50W and the reverse one 10W.
The Xiaomi 12S Pro has a starting price of 4699 yuan (670 euros) for the 8GB / 128GB version
Finally, we have the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the new "super flagship" of the Chinese giant.
The smartphone that focuses on Leica photography and optics has a look that recalls the design of a professional camera. It has an integrated metal frame that stably protects hundreds of parts of the entire optical system and an environmental silicone back cover that simulates the texture of calfskin, and is more resistant to dirt and stains. The whole is waterproof and dustproof with the IP68 standard.
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra adopts the same screen as the Pro version, so a 6,73-inch AMOLED panel with 2K resolution and LTPO technology.
For photos, the smartphone integrates the new 989MP Sony IMX50 sensor with Leica Summicron optics which has an area of 1 ″, the largest ever used by Xiaomi. The other two cameras are a 48MP ultra-wide with 128-degree FOV and a 48MP telephoto with a 120X periscope lens.
The Xiaomi 12SUltra is then equipped with two self-developed chips that together form the "Xiaomi Surge Battery Management System". These include the battery management chip, the Surge G1, and the Surge P1 fast charging chip, which extends battery life and greatly improves charging efficiency.
Staying on the battery theme, the smartphone is equipped with a second generation silicon oxide anode battery with a capacity of 4860 mAh, supports 67W wired, 50W wireless and 10W reverse charging.
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra has a starting price of 5999 yuan (860 euros) for the 8GB / 256GB version
