Official: Xiaomi 13 series and Redmi K60 Pro will support the new Wi-Fi 7 standard

In December last year, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun released a document confirming that the Xiaomi Mi 13 Pro would support the Wi-Fi 7 standard, but Wi-Fi 7 certification had not yet been made official in China, leaving us in awe. waiting for quite some time. Lei Jun also claimed that this Wi-Fi would be the fastest in Xiaomi's history.

Official: Xiaomi 13 series and Redmi K60 Pro will support the new Wi-Fi 7 standard

Well, after almost two months of waiting, Xiaomi's official Weibo page (the Chinese Twitter) today announced that the Xiaomi 10 Gigabit router and Xiaomi 13 series will soon be upgraded to the Wi-Fi 7 standard.

However, the Wi-Fi 7 function needs to be supported by both mobile phones and routers before it can be used normally. This feature can only be used after an OTA update. Users who own Xiaomi 10 Gigabit and Xiaomi 13 routers must wait for the official specific update to be released.

For the uninitiated, Wi-Fi 7, or IEEE 802.11be, is the new standard that supports 320 MHz bandwidth and 4096-QAM modulation. Wi-Fi 7 introduces a new chip-level multi-channel connection technology MLO (Multi-Link Operation), which allows mobile phones to select two signal channels at a time and transmit high-speed data simultaneously.

According to the data shown by Xiaomi, the new Xiaomi 13 can achieve a dual-band connection of 2,4GHz + 5GHz, reaching a transmission speed of 3,6Gbps. The Mi 13 Pro can achieve a simultaneous ultra-high-speed dual-band speed of 5GHz + 5GHz, and when combined with a Mi 10 Gigabit router, it can achieve a transmission speed of up to 4,3Gbps.

At the same time, Wi-Fi 7 can not only realize a two-way connection, but also automatically detect the transmission quality and preferentially select the path with the least delay for transmission. Compared to the previous generation of Wi-Fi, the average delay is reduced by 28%.

In terms of anti-interference, when there is interference in a certain channel, although it cannot form a full 160MHz bandwidth, Wi-Fi 7 can make full use of the remaining available channels to maximize bandwidth and network speed, not like with Wi-Fi 6 and wasting resources.

The upgraded Wi-Fi 7 Mi 13 series can also get better signal performance. Thanks to the redundant and narrowband dynamic data transmission technology, the signal coverage is increased by around 30%. Even if the distance between the mobile phone and the router is long, you can get a very stable network connection and don't have to worry about disconnection.

In addition, the Xiaomi 13 series also uses a more advanced Wi-Fi chip and improved process technology. With dynamic low-power monitoring and dynamic transmit power technology, it can reduce Wi-Fi power consumption by 30%, enabling Mi 13 series to achieve outstanding performance and longer battery life.

To get better Wi-Fi 7 experience, Mi 13 series users are recommended to use it together with Mi 10 Gigabit router.

Recall that in December 2022, Xiaomi's first 10 Gigabit router, known as the "flagship router", was officially released. In addition to two 10 Gigabit ports, the Xiaomi 10 Gigabit Router also features four 2,5G WAN/LAN adaptive network ports and a USB 3.0 interface.

The 2,4G/5,2G/5,8G tri-band simultaneous total speed is up to 10023,6Mbps, and they all support 4×4 modulation, 4K QAM, with the 5,2GHz supporting bandwidth bandwidth of 160 MHz.

Finally, we note that Redmi's official page has also announced that the latest K60 Pro will support the WiFi 7 standard.
