Xiaomi 13 and 14: Blackmagic Camera available for download

The inclusion of the Xiaomi 13 and 14 models in the list of supported devices reflects the growing Chinese brand recognition in the global smartphone landscape. Known for their advanced photography and video capabilities, Xiaomi devices naturally lend themselves to using a sophisticated application like Blackmagic Camera.

The Blackmagic Camera app, now available in version 1.1 on Google Play, offers Xiaomi users a suite of advanced features typically associated with professional film productions. Among the most notable features is the ability to view footage on larger screens, facilitating more precise focus and exposure. This feature is particularly useful considering i high resolution display of the Xiaomi 13 and 14 models, which can now serve as a professional shooting monitor.

One of the most interesting innovations introduced with the update is the Continuous focus control, which allows Xiaomi users to smoothly move the focal point between three preset positions while shooting. This technique, known as “focus pulling”, is a key element in cinematic visual storytelling and is now accessible directly from supported Xiaomi devices.

The app also offers a number of advanced tools for post-production. Xiaomi users can now apply noise reduction and image sharpness directly during recording, as well as use 3D LUTs for precise control of the color aspect of their shots. These features, traditionally associated with professional editing software, are now available in real time on compatible Xiaomi devices.

Another notable feature is the integration with Blackmagic Cloud, which allows Xiaomi users to sync media directly to Blackmagic Cloud Organizations accounts. This feature facilitates real-time collaboration between filmmakers, editors and colorists, regardless of their geographic location, opening up new possibilities for decentralized production.

The application also offers a granular control over crucial parameters such as frame rate, shutter angle, white balance and ISO, allowing Xiaomi users to get the most out of their devices' hardware capabilities. The ability to dim the screen while recording and save clips to any location, including external storage, adds further flexibility to your workflow.
