Xiaomi has collaborated with Leica to create the most advanced photography smartphone available today, but Xiaomi 14Ultra was penalized by DXOMark as well like last year's model. Despite its extraordinary capabilities, it seems like the Chinese company's top-of-the-range smartphone does not correspond to expectations of the benchmark experts.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra: DxOMark does not reward the best photographic smartphone
After talking about the new test on DxOMark displays it's time to talk about the tests on Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The smartphone got a low score in the DXOMark charts. Despite the excellent photographic quality and advanced features, these characteristics have not been adequately recognized. The reason is one: DXOMark's evaluation method tends to reward aspects related to optimization rather than the pure quality of the images.
Producers who use DXOMark's consulting services gain a significant advantage in the rankings. This allows you to optimize devices according to i specific evaluation criteria, guaranteeing higher scores. Xiaomi, however, has chosen to rely on its own collaboration with Leica and not to DXOMark services, which results in significantly less favorable scores.

The smartphone received 149 points overall, 144 points for photos and 150 points for videos. This places it at 13rd place in the general classification of the best smartphones: far from where it should be. The neighbors in the ranking are Google Pixel 8, Huawei Mate 50 Pro, Vivo X100 Pro and Oppo Find X6. The result is excellent, even if there are many other models ahead.
However, in a way, the new top-of-the-line smartphone has become the best. The smartphone has established a record 120 points for its telephoto capabilities. Scores very close to the maximum were also obtained for color rendering and stabilization.
