Remember when in early February we talked about the possibility that Xiaomi could mount a 256 megapixel sensor? At two different times we discussed about the existence of such a powerful sensor, and later about the existence of the support of this sensor. Well, maybe it's early for 256 megapixels but not for 150. According to our data Samsung would be working on a 150 megapixel sensor, natural heir to the Samsung HMX 108, and Xiaomi will be among the first (if not the first) to use it on their smartphones. Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 will probably use the new 150-megapixel Samsung sensor
According to reports from a Korean site this morning, the company of the same nationality would be with their hands in dough to build a camera of the 1 ″ size that supports a 150 megapixel sensor. To be honest, if we want to be precise, the news comes from Taiwan and not from Korea. In the current state of things it seems that three companies are requesting samples from Samsung as early as December of last year and it also appears that the contract has recently been completed with each of them.

Guess what? Xiaomi should be the first to use this camera which, to develop a 150 megapixel quality, uses the Nonacell system. This technology will allow use 9 pixels in 1 (and no longer 4 as for the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 HMX) causing that several 16 megapixel sensors work together.
But let's get to the question that everyone will be asking themselves right now: which smartphone will mount this sensor? In our humble opinion it will be Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 and we explain why. Going in order: we have no official news about its existence; if we don't have it, it means that it will come out late, possibly towards the end of the year if not the next; the sensor we are talking about will see the light in the last months of 2020 (reportedly) and will be mounted on a smartphone only allearly 2021; Xiaomi probably does not intend to launch an additional top of the range with Snapdragon 865 and will entrust the successor Snapdragon 875 the task of supporting this 150 megapixel.
