Xiaomi presented in China its new compact flagship, the Xiaomi 17, skipping the “16” number entirely and going straight for a new generation of performance and innovation. The device is the world’s first to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the recently announced top-of-the-line chip, which promises extreme power for gaming, AI, and multitasking.
Xiaomi 17 Official: The First with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 7.000mAh Battery

The Xiaomi 17 weighs 191 grams and features a 6,3-inch flat display protected by the new Dragon Crystal Glass. The bezels are ultra-thin, just 1,18mm, and the maximum brightness reaches 3.500 nits, making it perfect even in direct sunlight. The device is IP66, IP68, and IP69 certified, guaranteeing resistance to dust and immersion in water.
One of the most surprising features is the 7.000mAh battery, integrated into a compact body. Xiaomi claims over 12 hours of short-term video playback, even surpassing the iPhone 17 when paired with a 5.000mAh magnetic power bank. Thermal management is handled by a new three-dimensional ring-shaped cold pump system, three times more efficient than traditional vapor chambers, designed to maintain high performance even under stress.
The photographic department is top-notch: on the back we find a 1/1.31” Light Hunter 950 main sensor, flanked by a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP telephoto lens. The front camera is also 50MP, with autofocus support for sharp selfies and quality video calls.
