Xiaomi working on a new 5G CPE Pro router with integrated modem

With the arrival of 5G technology, the way we connect from home may also see changes. In this regard, a product with the model number CB0401 was found in the IMEI database a few days ago. Rumor has it that this is Xiaomi's first 5G CPE Pro device.

The so-called 5G CPE is actually a portable Wi-Fi router or a mobile router. In addition to being a wireless router used to access wired broadband, it can also receive 5G signals and transmit it as Wi-Fi, so that multiple devices can access the internet wirelessly.

This mobile router is thought to go to support China's four major domestic operators and support the latest Wi-Fi 6.

We point out that the current high-end mobile routers on the market are generally equipped with color displays, built-in lithium batteries and USB Type C ports for charging and data transmission.

However, compared to common routers, Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) routers are often more expensive due to the built-in 5G modem and antenna modules required to receive the signal. To be seen if Xiaomi will surprise us since it has always been known for its cheapness. We just have to wait to find out.

Recall that the latest router launched by Xiaomi is the AX9000. The premium range router manages to reach 9000 Mbps thanks to an increased bandwidth of 160 MHz. The Mi Router AX9000 also supports high-level 4K QAM modulation technology, that is with a smartphone that also supports 4K QAM, the speed theoretical transmission increased by 20% compared to the traditional 1024AQM. So, for example, a smartphone from the Xiaomi Mi 11 series can reach a maximum speed of 3,5 Gbps.
