Xiaomi brings the camera under the display both front and back: here's how

Xiaomi he "invented", so to speak camera under the display. It was actually the first company to show a fully functional smartphone, unlike Oppo which presented only a prototype. But we know this particular type of photographic sensor can be integrated, in fact, only below the display. What if Lei Jun's brand had taken a step forward? Calmly, it is just a patent, but very promising. Let's go see it together.

Xiaomi, the smartphone with the camera under the display has a step forward. A patent shows a technology that carries it back and forth

According to a patent of WIPO, kindly brought in color by the team of LetsGoDigital, we see a really interesting Xiaomi smartphone prototype. As we said earlier, the camera under the display has been relegated only to the front side smartphone. With this patent, however, Xiaomi aims to make it become Multifunction optics, thus also saving on hardware. You can see a mock up of the device that the brand has planned to build.

xiaomi camera under the display

On the left we see a "simple" Xiaomi with a camera under the display. To his right, the back of the smartphone. The photographic sensor orange color is the same, but wheel becoming front and rear as needed. We already know the mechanism and we have seen it in other patents: it is that of the rotating camera. Inside the smartphone, inevitably very often, there is a mechanism that turns the camera and makes it rear or front.

Instead of the rear camera (second photo on the left), when the sensor is positioned at the front, there is a glass to protect the dedicated area. This solution appears extremely complicated but extremely economical for the user. In fact, this way you can avoid inserting a camera into the device. Using only 3, they have 4.
