Official: the camera under the Xiaomi display is ready | Photo and video

All in all, Ross Young's leak wasn't all that wrong. Some time ago the founder of DisplaySearch had announced that Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra would have been Xiaomi's first camera device under the display. At the exit of the device, however, we were disappointed as it was not true. In the tweet, however, Young admitted that there had to be a version of the device with this technology and in fact, after the prototype of Oppo and after it ZTE Axon 5G the time has also come for Lei Jun's brand to show revolutionary technology.

The technology for the camera under the Xiaomi display is ready: the brand shares photos and videos of Mi 10 Ultra in a special version

It really is one Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra modified the device that integrates this revolutionary technology, destined to be integrated into next year's top-of-the-range devices. The brand's strong engineering culture led to the birth of a prototype using the latest flagship, powerful and beautiful. This is the third generation camera under the display and is shown to us in photos and videos directly from the brand.

In this infographic you can see the difference between different generation cameras: punch-hole, first generation transparent and invisible (current)

Compared to two previous generations, this in-display camera greatly improves the display effect of the sensor area through the self-developed pixel arrangement. At the same time, through the optimization of the camera algorithm, it brings the selfie to performance indistinguishable from the normal front camera we know. This only means one thing: that the mass production is possible and in fact the brand has announced that it will start next year. But what is the technology used? Let's try to explain it in the simplest way.

A is used new pixel arrangement self-studied by Xiaomi, which allows the screen to transmit light through the sub-pixel space area, so that each pixel of the unit still retains its own Intact RBG, without sacrificing the density of each of the squares. Compared to other existing solutions, Xiaomi's under-screen camera doubles the number of pixels as well as the brightness , range of colors visible. Below the section of the screen where the camera is integrated, there is a special circuit that allows you to improve light capture. The result is a photograph with a quality that is almost indistinguishable from normal.

On the left the first generation of in-display sensor and on the right the third generation

But now let's see some photos of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra that integrates this technology 100% and let's make a brief discussion panel with the stantard version. In these two shots we see both the version of Mi 10 Ultra with invisible camera, and the one with a hole. In the photo on the left you can see how the hidden sensor is practically non-existent and indistinguishable with the naked eye. On the right a photo from further away.

To end with a flourish, we also attach a hands-on (obviously Chinese) of the device in question. Through a clip we can better enjoy the technology in question and actually see what the effect is.

In conclusion, we report what the brand said. Since June 2019, when the experimentation started, two crucial points have been reached: a first time of pre-research, fundamentally entirely theoretical, in which it envisaged how an invisible sensor could exist in a smartphone; there second phase in October of the same year which led to the production of second generation screen. According to the company, the production would be ready but the process will only begin next year. There are obviously other projects at stake.
