Most of today's smartphones come with support for the technology dual SIM. Of course, we are not talking about entry level devices: those, for obvious reasons related to price and positioning, are not yet equipped with them. But the top of the range yes. Yet this technology has limitations that the Chinese giant has solved. That's it Xiaomi presents Dual SIM Dual Active. We explain what it is.
Xiaomi announces the introduction of Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) technology on its devices: what it is and how it works compared to the normal DS
In accordance to we learn by colleagues of Miuipolska, Xiaomi introduced Dual SIM Dual Active. While today's devices have the classic Dual SIM, on the other they suffer from a problem: if one of the two SIMs is working, the other is not. With the new Dual Active technology, Xiaomi aims to make two SIMs work simultaneously at the same time. Thus, there will be no need to switch to one or the other as needed. This means that messages or calls will arrive even if both are active.

While Dual Active smartphones have been around for a while, many smartphone manufacturers have opted not to include it in their devices. The main factor, of course, is the price. Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) is nothing more than a technology that allows you to support two cards at the same time, even when using one of them. Standard support for two Dual Sim cards allows you to support cards, but when you use one, the other is inactive. The new solution allows you to receive call notifications or receive real-time messages from the second SIM even when the former is in use.
Dual SIM Dual Active technology requires not only software but also additional hardware. So it won't be added to devices via server (OTA update or whatever). It is not known when Xiaomi will decide to introduce this feature on its devices, but we hope that the next top model may boast Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) support.
